Are people really seeing 280 miles of max range with their Mach-E GT 2024?

True! Can’t have your cake and eat it too.
Even as the weather warms, I haven't come close to the advertized 265mi range of my Rally GT either and I don't expect to. My foot is also composed of unusually dense matter and Ford recommends charging my extended battery to only 90% most of the time, so I'll have to make due with 220 or so most of the time...

I'm not too worried about that, however as I've survived the last 7yrs driving an EV that offered less than half of that range (VW eGolf), and that car didn't support back-to-back DC fast-charging or the Tesla Supercharger network.

It's the reverse of ice, their mileage is always better on highway, makes it confusing
From an efficiency and range standpoint I think gasoline vehicles do best between 25-55mph. They do poorly on the highway as you get further and further beyond 55 mph, and they are abysmal in slow stop and go traffic. Bad efficiency at going slow or going fast

EVs tend to do really well the slower and slower you go, so going fast ? on the highway, perhaps over 45mph, is where they begin behaving more like gasoline cars and loosing efficiency and range. Bad efficiency at going fast.

We rarely take our MME on long trips. Couple of weeks ago we made a 220 mile round trip. Left with 100% charge with departure time set so battery and cabin were preconditioned. Got home with 25% charge left. The route was mostly 55 or 60 mph speed limit.

Extremely dependent on highway speed. You won't get full range at highway speed. Probably max speed of 65 and you might get close.

Have you Reset your EV Driving History? Not that it will increase your actual range, but it will tell your GOM to start with the EPA estimate. From that point forward, the estimated range will be constantly adjusted based on your driving habits rather than those of the dozens of people who test-drove the car and were likely gunning it at every opportunity.

My advice on the Guess-O-Meter: Ignore it. I rely on the fuel gauge to know that I'm getting close to needing a charge on most days. On the very rare occasion that I am on a road trip, I have already used ABRP, PlugShare, and a few other apps to sort out where and when I'm stopping to DCFC. ??

Driving at 75 mph on the Ohio Turnpike in my '24 MME GT ER at 50-70 deg F in sunny weather with no significant winds I get right around 2.3-2.4 miles/kWh. 91 kWh x 2.4 mi/kWh = 218 miles max. If I'm driving at 65 mph that number goes up to 2.7x91=246 mile. Stop and go around town I typically get 3.1-3.4 mi/kWh depending upon my driving (I keep the car in Unbridled Mode). 3.4x91=309 miles. Of course you never drive from 0-100% so those numbers are just to compare with the EPA rated nominal 280 mile range. While long distance driving I plan a stop every 2.5-3 hours which generally keeps me in the 20-80% SOC range across all conditions.

I have a 2024 Mach EGT has 6000 miles on it. I bought it with 3800 miles in January. It was a demonstrator model. The maximum range is supposed to be 280 miles. I understand that when it’s really cold or really, really warm that will not be your max range but today it was 75° so I thought it would be interesting to charge it to 100% and see what the range would be. The range ended up being 252 miles of range. So are people out there seeing 280 miles of range on their 2024 Mach e GT? Thanks!
it also depends on what speed you drive at. ALmost all my driving is around town and my 23 gtpe gets 260 miles to a 90% charge. during the current spring weather. In wintertime I get around 235 miles for 90% charge. As an aside I noted the other day that since purchase my car has averaged 3.1 mi/kwh per the guessometer (which actually tracks pretty close to my own figures)

Thanks for the info. I understand now that highway driving and especially highway driving at 75 miles an hour will lower my range. This is all a learning process with getting an electric car for the first time.

It also depends on how you accelerate/decelerate. I've gotten 4.4 mi/KWh in town and also gotten <2 mi/KWh in town when having fun (I'm always in Unbridled). On my relatively short commute to my former office, the combined in-town and on-highway efficiency was between 2.4 and 3.7. My efficiency was almost always worse going to the office than coming home. There were a few times where going home was worse because I was having fun with the car. ??

It certainly depends how fast you drive 70+ reduces range.

It also helps for the battery management system if you do some fairly deep discharges on occasion. I usually run mine between 50% and 85%. I was consistently seeing between 212 and 230 miles estimate at 85% charge, which would be 250 to 270 miles at 100%. I did a relatively long trip this weekend, so I charged to 100% and returned at 20%. At 20%, my estimated range was still 61 miles, which would be 305 miles at full charge. After charging to 85%, the range estimate was 242 miles.

My experience is that estimated range almost always errs on the conservative side. I get it, having 20 less miles of range than expected is way worse than having 20 more miles than expected when on a trip.
My Sienna pretty reliably reports 545 miles of range after a fill up. On the highway, that is too high by at least 100 miles. So Ford seems to do better than Toyota in this case. I think if you check any ICE's estimated range at full, it would also be wrong.
