I was in D.C. and charged at an EV Go. I didn't have an account, and there was no internet (parking garage), so I paid with credit card. The cost ended up being $1/kWh (18 dollars for 18 KWH). Not including the $3 parking fee I had to pay to get out. There was a fairly high session charge, and then a lower cost/kwH. I think if I went from 10% to 100%, it would have ended up being around 60-70 cents per KW/h, but I didn't need to do that.

Is this normal? Or did I just pick a horrible place to charge. b.t.w I found the charging experience in Washington d.c. to be less than satisfactory. If I went there again, I would make sure to arrive with about 60% and then not charge again until I was well on my way home.

It's a VERY expensive rate, even for the DC-MD-VA area. I'm in exurban Maryland, and pay about $0.38/kwh (or so) at the Shell/BGE branded public chargers near me (at home from BGE: $0.19/kwh)

Yes that's pretty high, but it's regional and highly variable. Shop around, you can probably find a cheaper charger. I usually pay in the $0.35 range with Tesla, they are cheaper at night.

What does Plugshare show for that EVGO?

I found similar rates in parking garages in Baltimore (which makes proximal sense). Fortunately you're never more than like 10 miles from a supercharger on the east coast...

All I can say is that EVgo appear to be very proud of their electrons. I've noted their high prices elsewhere as well so I avoid them unless I have no other options.

Up in Bangor, Maine, there are several dealerships that charge 1.29 kwh, why would i charge there when tesla only charges .40 cents a kwh? Of course thats with a membership but still.

Use Plugshare to review charging options for your destination (in advance, if possible). EV Go and several other charging companies make deals with parking garage and property owners offering a share of revenue collected at charging stations on their property. You (as opposed to EV Go) pay the property owner's share.

EVgo tends to be the most expensive from what I’ve seen, especially with that session fee that most others don’t charge.
