Yes, it’s rare for a 12V battery to fail that way (probably 5% or less of all failures). A dead or shorted cell is more common. Likelihood increases the older the battery is.
My battery failed a few months after I bought it. I am not the only one so I think Ford got a bad batch that may make your 5% number higher.

Wasn't there a few situations where the 12v battery was low and not completely dead so you were not able to open the frunk? There is no way in other than breaking a window or wait until the 12v battery is completely dead to open the frunk.

Also, they should have designed it with a keyed lock for the trunk.

Sorry if this has already been answered but if you are outside the car and are locked out, do the jump-start procedures work?
Yes, only if the 12v battery is low enough where the frunk can be open with a 12v battery or jump pack. Like I said above, in very rare situations, the frunk can't open since the 12v battery is low but not low enough to be able to use the bumper wires.

guess the question is if 8.4V is low enough for the frunk release override to work.

I'd bet 90% of Mach E owners have no knowledge of how to access the 12V leads in the bumper and use a 12V battery to open the frunk, let alone pull the beauty covers off to access the LVB.
If they knew they forgot. My dealer didn't really do a thorough job of explaining it. But I remember thinking when he was "you have got to be kidding me".

The majority of that 90% is because they're too lazy to RTFM.

And some of the 10% aren't really. On FB the other day, someone said to open the bumper cover and pull the release cord...

One tip is that the manual is available online in PDF format. I actually downloaded it and it may not hurt to keep a copy on your phone or something in case you can't access the physical copy in the car for some reason (like being locked out...).

It's hard to RTFM when Ford doesn't give you one anymore.

Yup. I used to tell people to put it on every device and computer they owned. People said "stop telling people to RTM" (I would provide answer and recommendation). I now enjoy reading people that have owned the car for 3 years saying "I didn't know it did that". ?

I actually downloaded the manual a couple months back to look it over out of curiosity and for planning for it...

If the bumper wires are for jump starting, then in theory it should behave identical to how any other ICE vehicle functions when being jump started. But more importantly, the jump start should provide powered locks control and once inside the car, the frunk should be able to be opened by the manual latch release on the driver's side(?).

No, the bumper wires do not jump start the car. They only unlock the frunk when the battery is really low. You will still need to get to the 12V battery to jump it so you can open the door.

The PDF is a free download. As of 2024 Job2, cars came with a physical hard copy as well. I can't speak to 2025s, but my 2024 GT came with a paper manual. I've seen reports of some people not receiving their hard copies for 2024 and earlier cars. I would bet you it's just because their dealers did not give the manuals to them. I would guess that would apply top 2025s but I don't own a 2025 so I can't say that they come with a paper manual. The PDF is still a free download. ??

Huh, and here us long-timers on the forum thought that RTFM was Rick The Fine Mach-E. ??
