Associated Press, in the WSJ today, 6/24, used the words "late September". That is the end of Q3, which would fall into the "soon" historical timing.

Ford Is Recalling 200,000 Mustangs

Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 200,000 electric Mustangs because the door latches could falter, potentially trapping passengers in the back seat.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Ford, based in Dearborn, Mich., is recalling 197,432 Mustang Mach E midsize SUVs, model years 2021-2025.

The government agency that regulates automobile safety said that the electronic door latches may remain locked after a driver or front seat passenger exits the vehicle and shuts the door, potentially trapping a child or other passenger who is unable to use the interior door releases.

The NHTSA said letters notifying owners of the safety risk were scheduled to be sent on June 23.

Ford dealerships will update the vehicles’ software, with the remedy expected to be available by late September.

Yeah I think late September is super pessimistic. According to Ford's own website, the fix is already developed (see attached image), so guessing they just have to roll it out. The sales manager at my Ford dealer said he wouldn't be surprised given what he had heard from the Ford rep if they're able to install the fix and sell cars again the week of July 4.

I read that as "we know what we need to do, but have to program it, test it, ensure it works nice with all years of Mach-Es, ..." Hopefully you are right, but if I had one on order I would start making contingency plans.

As I understand it this is only if your 12v battery dies. So unless your MME has a severe 12v battery drain, your battery is old and on its last leg or your vehicle is fairly new then there should be nothing to worry about. I’m most positive that this software update will come to the early access program members first. Once I get it and update I’ll let everyone know.

Yeah... I'm fed up with this... I'll give them until the first week of July or so. If there's nothing then, I'm moving on.

This is past ridiculous. I put a deposit for a dealer stock order back in February. One reason I went with the dealer stock, despite it not being 100% what I wanted, is that it was close enough and the salesperson said that if I put in a custom order, I'd have to wait until the end of the summer vs. March, according to the salesman. I've even changed to a different dealer stock order because my original one was delayed for so long.

Now it looks like I may be waiting until after summer. If I had known this would've been the issue, I wouldn't have bothered and have looked at other options.

We ordered a 2021 Mach-E in May 2021. It was delivered in May 2022... You think 5 months is ridiculous?

Was yours a custom order or a dealer stock order (which, by the way, mine was originally ordered in November of 2024)? And as ridiculous as 5 months is, 1 year is even more so.

No car, unless it's some super exotic like a Ferrari or something, is worth waiting that long for, IMHO.

There were no dealer stock orders, everyone ordered and dealer allocated a vehicle, as I recall. No dealers had vehicles on the lot.

We bought a 2021 in July of 2022, a cancelled factory rep's order (he left Ford so no more A-Plan). We saw vehicle, beat everyone else to it.

Our 2021 order was made as a 2022. We sold the 2021 that we had bought for a few thousand profit.

Forum is full of posts of everyone waiting. My timeliness was not the record...

Yeah, my dealer gave me a loaner so I'm good, thankfully. If they hadn't given me one, I would have bolted as I essentialy had no car.

Well, maybe I'm just more impatient than the average person here, lol. But if I had known I'd have to wait this long for something that wasn't a custom order, I wouldn't have placed my deposit back then and looked elsewhere to begin with.

Mine was 3 months old when the battery died. It was a defective battery. I heard a lot of MME owners got defective batteries.

I guess I have more patience than most, as my early 2022 order went into 2023.

13 months wait for my '23 after forcing a change on colors, loss of ice white package, VIN change, change in trims, change in VIN 3rd time due to train derailment and Ford delivered on month 14.

Mine just arrived at the dealer yesterday ?

There’s nothing else new on the market right now that piques my interest at the price point I want to spend, otherwise I would look into other options. So I shall continue to play the waiting game.
