This showed up on my owner dashboard. Guess getting stuck outside your car isn't urgent, has to wait for Q3

Issue Date
2025-06-13
Campaign
25S65/AWAITING
Description
On your vehicle, in the event of unexpected 12V battery discharge, the front door electronic latches retain their last lockunlock status. If the driver or front passenger exit the front doors using the mechanical inside release handles, the doors may remain locked when they are closed. This may result in an unexpected lock-out condition for the driver and front passenger without the ability to immediately re-enter the vehicle.
Safety Risk
An occupant who remains inside a locked vehicle and unable to use an inside door release handle may be unable to be rapidly retrieved by a passenger who has exited the vehicle. This could result in a serious injury, especially in hot weather.
Remedy
Ford Motor Company is working to provide software for this repair. However, software is currently not available. When the software remedy becomes available, Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge. The remedy is anticipated to be available in Q3 of 2025.
Why could you not open frunk using the connections behind the tow eye panel and jumper the car battery?

If 12v isn't dead enough, you can't pop open the frunk and that would assume you had a jumper pack to pop open the frunk.

If you had passengers or pets in the back that can't open the door and it's a hot day, you would be fighting against time.

Kind of sad that the front doors won't unlock when the mechanical release is engaged. Nice that the rear door will unlock itself when the double-pull method is used, but I suspect that most people will want access to a front door because that's where the driver sits and the frunk release lever is. ??
That’s not how I read it. Pull the handle until it stops to open the door… what am I missing?

The doors will open, but they do not unlock the latch. That's why you can't open them from the outside.

I was contacted Saturday about doing mobile service on my 2023 for the recall. I said I'll schedule it if they actually have the PCM and SOBDMC updates for my car and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

My dealer is coming by tomorrow. I'll see if the tech will let me see their FDRS screen, since I'd like to see what other updates I have pending while he is connected to my car.

I'm guessing this aggressive push by dealers is coming from corporate? I would be surprised if they don’t have the proper fix ready while sending mobile techs out all over the place. I know dealers can be clueless but they also don’t like to waste money.

Miscommunication, they’ll find out when they get to the verification step and it doesn’t pass.

We already knew this, but just as confirmation, Ford has shared the following regarding the status of the recall for specific model years:

When will my vehicle be fixed?

2025 Model Year Vehicles
– The software update is available now. You can take your vehicle to your local Ford Dealer to receive the update.

2021 - 2024 Model Year Vehicles – When the update is available, you will receive a letter in the mail with instructions to have it installed at your local Ford Dealer.

Will FordPass app notify me or warn me that my 12V battery is at risk of failing?
FordPass will notify you if the 12V battery may be at risk of failing. A “Vehicle Health - Needs Attention” banner will be displayed with alert details “12-Volt Battery Advanced Diagnostic 1.0”. Upon seeing the alert, customers should take their vehicle to a dealership for service.

I received a “12-Volt Battery Advanced Diagnostic 1.0” alert in FordPass app. What does this mean?
The “12-Volt Battery Advanced Diagnostic” health alert will appear when the vehicle reports degraded 12V conditions that may mean that the battery is at risk of depletion during a key-off event. When seen, you should go to a Ford dealership for 12V battery testing and replacement.

Must be a slow news day. What’s everyone so concerned about? I’m collecting updates, warranty issues, CSPs, alignments, etc and making one trip to the dealership. You’ll be notified with 1 or 2 more recalls by the time the fix for this is available.

Bluecruise 1.6 is rumored to drive your Ford straight to the dealer every night for recalls and repairs.

I guess people with young kids that don’t know how to open the doors or people who carry pets often may be more concerned about it, but otherwise no real rush to get it done.

Sorry in advance. So no OTA?
Officially, not yet. I anticipate an OTA will be released later this year. Initially the update will only be available at your dealership. If you are especially concerned, such as if you transport small children or pets, I strongly recommend that you get the update done at your dealership as soon as it becomes available.
