OK, but I'm compelled to point out that neither location I suggest for velcro sees direct sunlight.
Perhaps I've misused the "direct". The back of the screen, which faces the windshield, does get pretty hot especially when the sun shines through it in my Mach-E. Is that something you don't experience in yours?

I'm not interested in "right fighting" with you so am only responding because you asked a direct question. ?

Pretty much anything in the car gets hot at times. I don't have a problem with the adhesive used on velcro in this application. I've had stick-on velcro on the dashboard of another vehicle for 15 years, never had a problem. YMMV

I am 100% sure not all Velcro and it's accompanying adhesive is made the same. We can both be right.

I appreciate your candor.

Heya!

This is mostly a winter / dark season problem, but: Calm mode does not suitable blackening out the screen. Thus, I want some sort of cover to put on the screen to black it out when I do not need to engange with it.

Are there some options, or would my best bet be to let a friend of mine 3d print a cover? If so, are there some really detailed illustrations with correct dimensions as a base? If so my idea would be to either make a version with open hole for the knob, or one with elevated part to hide the knob altogheter. Attached a rough sketch of how it could look (left side is profile image, right side is front image).

Hey, we have a similar problem with bright screen in that it draws too much attention when driving at night in rural areas. But for us, we didn't find a cover necessary.

In addition to a brightness control found in the screen that we found was not nearly dark enough, are you aware that there is a hard button brightness control right by the light switch? We found that when used in conjunction with the software dimming that this was more than adequate for getting the screen as dark as we want on dark nights.

Too much thinking of this as a vehicle instead of a piece of technology. Get a laptop sleeve of the appropriate size and cut a slit in it. If the ends flap around too much add some stick on velco to close the end after you slip it on.
