There seems to be no criteria that I have been able to see as to what causes Ford to issue a build date for an order. It sure isn't FIFO. Has anyone else figured out what triggers Ford to select an order for build, kinda looks like a lottery draw.
We had long discussions of this when the first build schedules came out. It has probably changed since the start but seemed to involve optimizing the line speed by varying car configurations, destination so they could fill autoracks or trains to given destinations, and a bias to early orders and First Editions, with the FE builds finishing with Mach Drops scheduled for the week of January 4. I haven't looked into it since the early batch of schedules. However, we are sure it is not only FIFO.

I agree with you there. I ordered October 12, 2020 and I see that an order for November has already been scheduled in March 2021. It is very frustrating to say the least.

Is "confirmed" accepted by dealer?
I had made the order directly at the dealer on Nov 17 and made a deposit

He sent it off to Ford and her told me on the 18th that he had recieved confirmation by Ford that my order was accepted

Yeah, I did a quick correlation analysis against Location, Order Date, Model, Color, etc., and after you account for the fact that many early orders occurred before manufacturing even began, there is no clear link between any of the options and your build date. The only curious outliers are the two fastest Order -> Build Date records, both of which are Non-US (One UK, one Canada), so perhaps those markets were allocated earlier build queues. But even that is still speculative - two points make a line, but I need three points for a trend. ;)

There’s an order from the end of December with a build date in February and and order from January with a build date of March. It’s very frustrating that some people get an immediate build date and others wait for months with no build date assigned.

Amen. My order just went in a couple weeks ago. So am I looking at a build date in a few more weeks or this summer? I’ll live with either but I’d sure like to know.

I'm not saying that's not the case, but you have to be careful with some of that data. Dealer's spew a lot of bogus information, and a lot of people have submitted the form with dates given to them by their dealer instead of official Ford communications.

I am in Colorado. Ordered a premium awd sr RR on 10/07/20, made a change in less than a week after ordering, dealer has a Ford receipt date of 10/12/2020. I still have not received a build date. I asked the dealer they said they have 18 orders without a build date. She also said there are 4 orders earlier than mine without a build date. She also said she has build dates for older orders through out February and she does not have any for March yet. Hopefully mine will get build on March or earlier April.

The other issue is out of the thousands of orders submitted this is only a little over 1% of the possible 50k build plan. Any errors in dates or dealer misinformation can really skew the small sample we have. However Ford customer service should show scheduled dates for everyone after 30 days if they plan on building the cars even if it is a 6 month moving target. IMHO
