It is possible the authentication is certificate based, and there was a change in the authority chain that needs to get published to the Tesla backend.

Doesn't make it any less frustrating. I had a similar issues with IONNA back in May, but that was resolved when I went back to the same site a few weeks later.
A certificate issue would not effect using the Tesla app, as long as you initiate from the Tesla app prior to plugging in.

Even if you use the Tesla app, the car still has to communicate and authenticate on the back end between Tesla and Ford. That’s how Tesla verifies that it’s a vehicle that’s authorized to charge.

Not sure exactly what they use to identify the cars, but probably just some administrative error like Ford didn’t provide an updated list in time or Tesla didn’t update their servers in time.

I picked up my 2025 Mach-E Premium on July 2. I'm not sure of the build date. I have been to 2 Tesla superchargers. Charging worked both times. The last time was driving thru Ohio on July 28th.

To add another wrench to this, even with the NACS to J1772 adapter, there is no guarantee the L2 Tesla EVSE would work. It could be potentially locked down to Tesla only vehicles. Plugshare may help to identify if other car manufactures were able to successfully charge.

If you enter your vin at parts.ford.com you can get your exact month, day, and year build date. The door jamb on the driver side would only show month and year.

They use the MAC address of the modem in the car, it has nothing to do with a back end at Ford. That is only the case for plug and charge or use of the Ford app.

Edit: I had a Tesla site not work with P&C, nor the Ford app. Used the Tesla app and it worked fine.

I received a free adapter from Ford for my 2022 Premium in December. My first few attempts to charge at Tesla superchargers all failed. The locations are supposed to be available to me (according to both the Tesla and Ford apps). My dealer's service department confirmed my car has no "charging issues". I've been waiting for them to get a replacement adapter for several months, since we all assume that mine must be defective. The past three times I tried, I was successful at two of the locations, but still unsuccessful at one other. All locations are (apparently) 250kw. Does anyone have any thoughts about what might be the problem? I'm hesitant to rely on using a Tesla Supercharger on a trip, since it might not work, and leave me stranded.

There is no need to determine kW of a Tesla Supercharger. The Tesla app, when you enter your vehicle and that you have an adapter, only shows compatible locations. Same with FordPass.

What is the location that you failed to charge at? What does PlugShare say about that location?

Rick,
I appreciated your reply. I hadn't heard of Plugshare. When I checked it, I found that the location where I couldn't charge (1771 E Bayshore Rd 94303) states that it is "Tesla-only"; which is contradicted by the FordPass app and Tesla app. The two locations where I was successful, both are "open to non-Tesla". So I will now rely on Plugshare. Cheers.
