  1. Apparently you have to do research before you take the Mach-E to a car wash for the first time

Car washing systems recycle the water, while home washing puts it down the street drain. In some states, such as Texas, home washing cars is illegal, mostly during drought seasons.
  2. 10 lbs in a 5 lb sack

That dashboard reminds me of KITT, which I have seen close up.
  3. Mileage issues!!

Come to Puerto Rico. It is closer than Hawaii and we are in "spring" since October 2021. We had 85 a few days ago. Today it dropped to just 78.
  4. Tax Credit - Will Some Of Us Lose All Or Part Of It Sooner?

Just take that tax credit away from the imports, such as Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, M-B, and Toyota . Then give that to GM, Ford, and Tesla.
  5. Why owning any new EV today won't be a long-term ownership for many

Buy a used Chey Volt instead of that import.
  6. Easter egg in the Mach E

Don't these "ponies" live in the battery like a big stable and come out to run when you start the car?
  7. Ford projected to reach 200,000 EVs sold in 3rd quarter 2022

I can't use that tax credit because I don't pay Federal taxes, so why doesn't the Congress change that to a rebate on purchases, and only for U.S. brands, since no foreign brands give any incentives for U.S. brand sold overseas. I did get a $2,000 rebate after buying my Fusion Hybrid here.
  8. Did you test drive before purchasing?

I did a test drive before buying my Fusion Hybrid . My wife did one in 2014 in the Titanium version with the Park Assist and loved it. Unfortunately, there were no Titanium versions at the dealer when I bought my Fusion a year later.
  9. Tax Credit Surprise

How about some of us who never pay Federal taxes because we live outside the States? Can the Feds change that to a point of sale rebate instead so everyone who buys an EV made in the U.S. can enjoy that credit, no matter where they live?
  10. Why do EV's in general have poor top speed

I am not a roadblock! The laws were made to avoid accidents. I did drive a light blue with white stipe Mach-1. I sold it because the rear window was terrible to look back through. Everyone who drives over the speed limit is a assassin waiting for a victim and the real danger.
  11. Car Wizard shows how the Mach-E & electric cars still need (and won't need) a mechanic

He did say "step on the gas" twice when he should had said the accelerator. But I agree that there is no more engine maintenance. After doing it since 1963 on my Dad's Rambler American wagon, and doing it lightly on my 2014 Ford Fusion, I wish to stop checking gasoline engines. So in our...
  12. Why do EV's in general have poor top speed

Because responsible EV manufacturers want their customers to respect speed limits and drive safely. If you want to drive faster, go to a racetrack. Personally, I will NEVER exceed speed limits. I drove a 1967 Chevy Camaro RS and a 1974 Ford Mustang Mach-1 so I know what speed driving is...
  13. Netflix or Game Console on MACH E?

Although I just have a 2014 Fusion Hybrid, I can watch a DVD and probably play games in my car. It has direct RCA inputs (yellow for video and red/white for audio) to the infotainment screen, but only works while in "P". The F-150 also has these inputs.
  14. 12v battery problem can have serious consequences

I am sad that the U.S. is still the only nation using the obsolete Imperial System from the old U.K. and many citizens will not learn the Internstionsl Metric System. As an EE I learned the Metric System in 1970 and use it more than the Imperial System. It is extremely easy to learn as there are...
  15. Does the Left hand know what the Right hand is doing ?

They will be using Nikola semi's http://nikolamotor.com
  16. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] Breaking news - White House releases plan to build nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers

There is a national standard: the SAE J-1772. Tesla is a single brand yet they can use an adapter. So can CHAdeMO users.
  17. [CLOSED DUE TO POLITICS] Breaking news - White House releases plan to build nationwide network of 500,000 EV chargers

After buying a $40,000 vehicle, the owner will save thousands per year, over $40,000 in a twenty year lifetime, unless they crash it. The initial cost is well justified. Even a basic Ford F-150 Lightning truck will only need tires, wiper blades, and washer fluid in those same twenty years.
  18. Mach E fits all the tools. What have you hauled / carried / fit in your cargo space? ❓❓

I wonder why Ford did not give the Mach-E the same power outlets feature that the hybrid F-150 has or the F-150 Lightning will offer (it will power a home and charge other EVs*). Maybe if a Ford engineer who reads this forum will have this feature added for the 2023 MY which is when I plan to...
  19. Low Washer Fluid!

Just add a set of rain gutters along the roof edges with collection hoses so the rain water feeds into the washer fluid reservoir by itself. ?
  20. At home charging speed

If that point gets warm, you may have a small resistance dissipating heat. Check the surfaces of the plug and the outlet. If there is some contaminant such as oxide or sulfide, use a wire brush to polish them. Try a paper nail file inside the outlet contacts. Using an electric contact cleaner...
