I was just driving on the highway and for the first time ever received a 1-pedal drive failure/fault message, saying that it’s been disabled and that I needed to use my brakes to slow down.

When I was able to stop, I put the car in Park, turned it off and on again, and restarted and one pedal drive was working again

Of note, it’s 28°F and snowing, not sure if this has any bearing. Also, I was. driving in L when it occurred.

I tried searching quickly but couldn’t find any real information.

Anyone out there have any suggestions or other information? Thanks.

I used to have that happen off and on, but not in the last year or so. What year is your car and is the software up to date?

I had that issue last year, a software update resolved it. Don't remember what the update was, however.

Transient faults are annoying, particularly when they display lights and warning messages. They are, though, simply transient. Take it to the dealer if it happens again and/or stays on.

Out of curiosity, why were you driving in L?

A lot of people like L mode as it shifts the braking to a more aggressive algorithm without switching drive modes. Personally, I used it exactly once since I got the car, and that was when I was doing some testing on a long, deserted (as in none of Hawaii's finest) downhill section of the cross-island highway,

i thought that L would do that. it acts the same as an engine brake would on a semi.

I've had it happen once.

I suspect it was because I unlocked, turned on the car, shifted to D and took off in a very quick succession. I may have already been pressing the go pedal while it was booting.
