Hey All,

I was having issues with my 12v Battery. Receivid the message "Electrical System Drain Service Required". Started with a battery with a bad cell, which was replaced. Then I had the BCM (Body Control Module) replaced. Fingers crossed this is the fix. I will keep you posted on how things go.

I created a video that documents my journey. Maybe it will help someone diagnose their issues.

Thanks

TLDR - Don't wire your dashcam to run 24/7 because it will drain your 12V battery and cause it to fail prematurely from excessive cycling. Should be wired to switched accessory power only.

I'm pretty sure the BCM had almost nothing to do with it—worst case it would just need a software update but shouldn't need to be replaced. Dealer had no clue the dashcam was causing the drain (maybe OP unplugged or removed it before service so it wouldn't have been identified) so they just guessed and shot the parts cannon at it.

Preconditioning has no impact on the 12V battery because the DC/DC converter is on and charging during preconditioning.
