Rock auto in the summer of 2025 was listed at $85. I bought mine in October 2025 from Levittown Ford on Long Island. Was charged $132.50 and with tax $144. Used points I had to bring it down to $119 and with the purchase received 1129 new points

Successfully replaced the 12v battery on my 22 plate AWD Ext Mach today with one supplied by Ford. Kept the battery on a trickle charger until installation. Charger indicated that the battery was fully charged. I followed the procedure for resetting the BMS as shown in an article on this forum but no matter how many times I performed the procedure the car's battery icon did not flash 3 times indicating a reset. Any comments please. I ensured that I flashed the high beams 5x and the brakes pedal 3x within the required 10 secs with the accessories button on.
I recently had my battery replaced under warranty but it took a couple of trips and some complaining., My car was at about 31,000 miles and 3 weeks short of the warranty expiring. I had been monitoring the 12V battery for the last couple of months and it got to the point it would never get above 70% and I saw 59-65% after sitting overnight. So, I wasn't surprised when I got the "check the 12V battery and I took it to the dealer. They said they tested it and it passed so they wouldn't replace it. But, they charged it for me and I left the dealer with the 12V at 85%. The next morning it was at 69% and the 12V battery warning popped up again. I took it back to the dealer an d again it passed. I told them I wouldn't accept that as the car itself is telling me it's about to fail. I didn't want to bring it back a couple of weeks after getting stranded with an expired warranty. The service rep said they'd look again and later called me back telling me they "got the battery to fail" so bingo, new battery for free.

Anyone used a memory saver (e.g. https://a.co/d/4lWeScA) while doing the swap and did it obviate the need for the special reset?
No. You have to tell the BMS that you have a new battery.
Memory saver is to preserve things like radio presets - not necessary on our cars.

Thanks, I’d hoped that without the LVB going to 0, the BMS wouldn’t need to know :<

When you are 80+, the dealer is a good deal regardless of the price.
Might want to reread the part "if you are doing it yourself".

So, if I buy from Rock Auto, or from Ford for that matter, do I need to have a charger to charge it to 100% before installation and recalibration?

The battery *should* be charged to 100% prior to doing the BMS reset. It does not need to be at 100% SoC for installation, just for the reset. For most people, it's easier to leave it sitting on a bench in the garage to charge than it is to charge in the car. 😁🐩

It's a good practice to always charge a new battery before putting it into service. It's normal for a new battery to be slightly discharged from sitting on a shelf for a few months.
I've been doing that for 40 years.
