Just got my car back from the dealership after a while because of a back ordered part. I had them put a new 12v battery in. It is -11* but that's nothing compared to yesterday. And I'm getting every error I got the last time my 12v battery went bad. Could it just be the cold? Any advice? I would appreciate any input. Thanks

Was the new one fully charged and did they reset the BMS?

I don't know, I paid 167 for a new battery.
These are the questions you can ask the dealer to get to the bottom of this. You asked for advice, so I’m giving you some.

I'm sorry it looked like a question for me.

Yes, but not for you to answer. You can / should assume that a competent dealer would do these standard things for you. I mean you shouldn’t have to ask the cook if they washed their hands before making your dinner. But we live in an interesting world.

Bring it back to the dealer. Ask if they charged the battery before installing it and reset the BMS. They should determine what is causing the messages to come up and make sure the battery is good (new batteries can rarely be DOA) before you leave. You should not be getting 12V messages merely because it is cold when you have a brand new battery, something isn’t right.

Thinking about it, I doubt they did that. They said they never had a mme in the shop. Which is odd because I saw that their employees owned the car, at least 5 in the employee parking lot.

They may have never had a MME, but they service cars with a 12V battery all day long.

Wait, you’re supposed to wash your hands before handling food?

Yup. And Ford’s battery replacement instructions are essentially the same for everything that has an AGM battery, including that you’ve got to reset the BMS before it drives away. Even if they‘ve never serviced an MME they’ve surely serviced thousands of F-150s that need the same procedure.

So I saw a post the other day, it lets you use the chrome browser to look up your 12v battery soc. I followed all the steps. Battery status is null.... lmao

I'm going to charge it tomorrow and hope that can get me to the dealership for a replacement. I'll make sure to ask them what you suggested. Thanks for your help
