I do wish it made a noise a bit like the Toyota RAV4 when going very slowly so people could hear it.

I flew airliners for 35 years. I can’t hear squat and I can hear a Mach-e going by at low speed. The people who say they can’t hear it are tuning it out.

If they have their back to your oncoming vehicle while walking I support any of the mentioned noisier warnings. Methinks one really should walk toward oncoming traffic.

That happens in my neighborhood for two reasons.

1. The sidewalks are not quite wide enough for two to walk side by side.

2. The roots of the trees beside the sidewalks have lifted the sidewalk in so many places that the road is actually a safer place to be from a tripping perspective.

3. Owners fail to trim back trees/shrubs/plants that bloock 25-75 of the sidewalk.
