it is so disappointing that Ford can not understand the importance of software release notes. These cars are all about the software and yet they can't tell us what changes they made like every other software company does. By letting us know what has changed we can see if a problem or bug has been fixed or check out enhancement. Maybe just as important is the customer satisfaction from seeing your investment improved upon. Maybe the new EV division will recognize that the software is what makes an EV, not the car body.

While I wish they would give us a way to see detailed notes on updates, I can also kinda see why they don’t. If they say “Power-up 3.0.0 This update enables the hood release”, and for some reason there is a glitch that makes it not show up on the screen, we (myself included) would throw the mother of all shit fits. By not telling us what to look for, they manage that somewhat.

Just Go to r/Apple and look at all the “[xyz] is broken in ios X.xx beta“ threads.

that said, I do think they’re missing an opportunity by not giving early access members more information so we can bang hard on the new features for them.

I disagree with that, as that's what software testing is for. As much as I am impatient for updates (and I am VERY impatient) they should be reasonably confident that the software they're sending out works.

If they are hedging their bets by being vague with release notes, that is a VERY bad sign for the software releases. That's a big ol band aid on a gunshot wound in my opinion

If the release truly is just “bug fixes” then I think the boilerplate release notes they have been using are fine, but there should be a “view more” button on the app notification that can give the list of bugs that were fixed.

However, if there is a feature or UI change that should be listed in the release notes. Otherwise people might stop trusting ford to do auto updates and flat out turn them off.

Yes, but those are Apple Fanboys b*tching about beta software. Not the same as your example. If Ford sent me a PowerUp announcing the frunk release and it didn’t work, I’d be on the phone making an appointment with my dealer pretty quick.

What do you mean when you say the frunk button goes away?

At one point during the OTA's my car had a (inoperable) frunk button on the "access" page of the sync screen. You could hit the button, tap and hold, etc. to your hearts content but the frunk would never open.

In one of the newer updates that button is gone.

My guess is the button was removed because you and others stopped tapping it. Least used functions are the first to go!
