While it's very likely that both vehicles experienced exactly the same malady, the 12V AGM appears to be a symptom, rather than the cause.

Or put another way, if you could actually get to the battery, disconnecting the negative cable for a few minutes seems to fix the issue with the car.

Ironically, the malady prevents access to the battery.
Is this not the definition of Irony?!?!

Posted about a month ago talking about a bricked 2023 Premium. Today the same thing happened with our 2023 GTPE. Something is up and Ford needs to figure this out.

Both times it’s happened the car shows it running in the app and the location shows sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left. But the car is actually home. That’s the point when the 12v fails apparently. But after arriving home, the car will no longer unlock. Battery won’t jump the frunk because it still has enough power to honk when you use the fob. Just won’t unlock.

The last fix was to replace the 12v battery. I’m waiting on a flatbed to drag this thing to the dealership now, but I suspect the fix will be the same. Both cars are driven daily. What are the odds both had a bad 12v from the factory!?

This is really ridiculous.

I have been much more fortunate, and am sorry for your trouble.

The PaaK Theory is interesting.

Apologies if I missed something, but isn’t it the case that you can pop the frunk via the wires in the front tow hook port, then get at the battery to disconnect or charge?
Only if the LVB is dead. It sounds like this is occurring when the LVB is not dead.

I'm sorry that happened to you... twice.

I've got a 2023, also; this is my biggest concern regarding my Mach E at the moment and I agree something needs to be done. (Edit: Looks like something is being done - keeping fingers crossed for a quick update: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/ecg-24-2-4-10-2.38133/post-837553)

Does the following apply? I keep reading about 12v battery being low but not low enough, but maybe something else? https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/completely-locked-out-?.37460/page-6#post-826910

Is the root issue that the vehicle's 12v is below 12v and can't operate equipment that is required?

what is the threshold for the emergency jumpers to pop the hood? 0v, 6v, 10v, 11v? To me, if this is a programmatically controlled value, then it sounds like Ford didn't set a threshold that is appropriate for emergency access and should address their emergency access programming as well as any issues causing the 12v to be drained that are to do with programming/modules.

Obviously if the 12v doesn't have enough power to control required modules, but the emergency access thinks there's enough voltage that it won't pop the hood, then there is a misconfiguration in this emergency access system.

In terms of a hardware angle on this. I feel like there should be direct 12v jumper cables in that emergency access port as well so that you can choose to charge or boost the 12v battery in the event that it is low on power.

Ok, so this issue about the 12v battery is starting to scare me. Is it random? Does it correlate with time or miles, or some unknown collection of bad habits (like unwanted PAAK triggers)? Is my Premium trim manufactured in May of 24 ‘immune’ because of software or hardware updates? Most likely my car purchased three weeks ago isn’t at risk or might it be?; I read earlier in this thread that dealer storage and maintenance practices pre-sale could be a factor……

There have only been a couple members reporting having the issue in the first place. The fix is, in theory currently on FDRS, and hopefully with OTA soon.

This hasn’t really been widespread enough for anyone to really say what caused it. I’d personally not lock my car with a child or my dogs in it, can back your car into spots if you really want.

But I wouldn’t be spending 24/7 assuming this is about to happen at any moment to my car.

Fair enough, I still think the emergency access and provisioning needs revisiting in conjunction with this though. We're seeing the shortcomings of the configuration when put to the test.

That I don’t disagree with…personally I would have just put a keyhole on the car. But that’s not cool enough I guess.

I completely agree! a key hole would have been totally acceptable. I would have been fine with normal door handles too. The door buttons and door pop solenoids were cool to me for about a week, then they started looking like more of a liability than anything else.
