2 week ownership leads to speeding ticket...oops.

"You're doing 60 in a 40mph zone", me saying to my wife.

"Oops" as she slows the new to her '23 MME Premium. She had driven our previous MME and our current Lightning and Bolt occasionally, but the MME is her daily driver now after trading our last ICE, a Toyota Highlander.

A couple of days later, "You're going 70". Oops again as the car slows. I then tell her "Now you know why I use the cruise control all the time." She has always hated cruise control for some reason. She admits that the quiet, smoothness, power, and comfort of the MME makes her unaware of how fast she is going.

Yesterday while I'm dinner at with some friends... I think you know where this is going..... I see a flurry of texts arriving...

"Where is the registration?"
"I just got pulled over."
"He says that's not the registration" (it is, it's the temporary registration for the temporary plates).

She learned the hard way...

You can’t goose the accelerator like you would in a ICE. It took me over a year to totally change old habits

The first 3 months are dangerous as it is way too fun to accelerate and 1 sec later you are speeding. (it's still fun, but I have a bit more self control after a few years.)

I must live in a state that doesn't care about speeding, because I have two "high performance" brightly colored vehicles and zero tickets. I definitely speed, and now that I've posted this I fully expect to finally get a ticket.

Why I've had radar detectors in all my cars for years. One ticket can cost more than the detector.

Ouch. Sorry she got busted for speeding. I use the cruise control a lot bur also drive it myself. As you said, it takes a little getting used to. I hope she gets there sooner rther than later.

When my kids were teens, after the one or two times I got pushback for suggesting they might want a jacket in freezing weather, I stopped. I figured it was a self-correcting problem. And it was.
