2021 model year, driven by my wife. The car has about 52k miles. Garaged and cared for well.

Really disappointed the driver seat already coming apart.

For reference, we have a 2018 Expedition with 105k miles and none of the seats are showing this type of premature aging.

I’ve also noticed some of the buttons (window control, hazards) that have their plastic peeling off.

Thus far, we won’t be buying another Ford EV after this. The quality of parts leaves much to be desired. My neighbor was right. It’s a $20k car with a 30k battery. In order to keep the price competitive, they clearly cut corners everywhere else.

What a shame.

Mine started to deteriorate after roughly a year of use (40 000 km). It just is bad quality or / and design. The positive part is that it mostly is cosmetic for now.

Coming up on 5 years with my 21 and the seats still look new. I’m not sure why there are such different experiences with tte seats, but as @DugthePug Dad said, get some good seat covers and call it a win.

And I have had Honda and Acura vehicles suffer tears or separation in their driver seat fabric. It happened with both solid and perferated material. It does happen. At the risk of sounding like a heretic, not every issue or problem some owners have or perceive to have with these cars is exclusively a Ford issue.

Another remedy is find a good shop and have the material replaced. That’s what I did for the Acura/Hondas in question. Fixed as good if not better than new.

Sadly, I’m one of the ones with this problem. Apparently it can be repaired, I just have not done so yet.

Mine too. It appeared at around 60,000 miles and at 70k is not much worse. I'll fix it one of these days. (I'm tempted to gather data and make a graph of time-to-tear versus driver weight... but I really don't want to know.)

I see SKU LJ8Z5862901AA from Ford which is described as Seat Cover Cusion Left,Front.

"A cover that replaces the original equipment seat back and bottom cushion cover of the vehicle seat."

Any thoughts on the difficulty of doing this on my own? I have some points to redeem and Ford usually has a discount sale during the holiday. Regular price is $342.

Does the driver carry a cell phone in a pocket near where the seat fabric is falling apart? Maybe the phone is gouging the fabric as they drive?

(Not saying it is the driver's fault, just curious why it is failing at that spot.)(

It’s mostly attributed to the material. Real leather wouldn’t have cracked like this, and treatment to this material doesn’t work. Damn vegan pleather is proving useless. Like others have stated nice seat covers or a seat replacement is the next step.

I have a 2022 MME Premium and no issue with the seats so far. Mine has black seats. Just curious if folks are having problems with just the lighter colours or all colours?

I have a 20-year-old Volvo with real leather seats - they are still perfect. If my MME seats go, I'll probably look for real leather Katskinz.

That's not the issue with mine. IIRC my seats started cracking about 6 months ago. For most folks it is the outside portion of the driver's seat.
