Remember, no matter how much weight is taken out by Ford its still going to accelerate at the same speed due to software limitations in the traction control. Now in the GTPE with selectable traction control that could be different

Tony
I actually have to wonder if reducing the weight would have the opposite effect on traction. Heavier (or effectively heavier via downforce) things have better traction, which is why we put spoilers on vehicles. So, while the same force will accelerate a smaller mass faster in a vacuum, it's not clear how the traction would be maintained with the smaller mass to allow it to accelerate against a surface.

With the planned changes in reducing weight that Dickson runs through, does anyone think that will affect performance at all (or is it nominal)?
The ones that she listed, NO. She basically said they are removing 1 reservoir (which looked to me to hold maybe a quart) and a couple other minor changes. She hinted that they are looking at some of the hoses, but she didn't outright say the hose configuration would change. They are either keeping other things close to the vest, or we are talking a percentage or two improvement. The article is clearly making some pretty bold ASSuM(E)ptions.

I will add, I think it's quite OK for Ford to make continual, steady, year-over-year improvements. No need to throw the baby out with the bathwater here; the Mach E is a good thing, and I don't want it "Model Y"-alized to reach some magical range point that some eccentric person says it should. The Mach E has soul.

Anyone know when in 2021 the MME officially become a 2022 model year? Mine is slotted for production in October. Will that be a 2022 w the changes?
