If I cancel my order while it is still in the bank, does the dealer still get to take delivery of a car?

I know this was possible with the Lightning reservation holders, but once an order was placed with the dealer, the dealer owns that allocation.

For an MME, can I still change dealers after the order was placed, but no VIN/build date ?

If your order goes into production and delivers to the dealer, then you can refuse, get your deposit back and the dealer will own it.

So I guess I know what this dealer up to. Be such an epically horrible dealer, and the customer will lose faith and order another car from another dealership. Boo, now they have a car they can mark up for 15K.

sometimes I wish I had the balls to be just a complete jerk. As soon as I noticed he was a tool (his first five words said to me) I should’ve turned and walked out.

Call Ford and a) verify if the order has been placed and b) see if you can switch it to a different dealer so they don't end up getting a car to price gouge somebody with. Dealer might lie and say they can't cancel it FYI, that's a lie so they can keep it.

When I ordered my car, I did it online and never spoke with the dealer ahead of time. I think this is the best way so you get the most transparency. After it shows order submitted online, ask them for a copy of the order summary sheet.

I'm going through the same thing OP. This is really frustrating and I hope Ford does something about it.

I followed the advice of another member and ordered online from another dealer. My order got into the bank within 24 hours.

The original dealership I went IN to told me that ordering from the dealership would skip a step and get me into the bank faster. His rational was that ordering online prompts a sales rep to have to call you and you have to wait for that to happen. By walking in, you get a shortcut he says. BUT, thats complete effing garbage. You see, the sales rep I ordered from had to pass it off to someone who does the actual ordering. I followed up three days later, and the sales rep confirmed that my order was still NOT in the bank.

Ordering online sent my order straight to the person who does things, she emailed me the pre order sheet, I signed using my finger and literally 5 minutes later I was in the bank. Actually, correction. I emailed her back and asked her if I could change the color, and she literally sent me another pre-order sheet in two minutes.THEN she confirmed my order in 5 minutes.

Anyway, the pre-order sheet from the sales rep says at the bottom “this order has not been submitted to the order bank“. The pre-order sheet that was sent to me after the online reservation does not have this same statement at the bottom.

TL;DR Don’t go in to the dealer.

Not sure if I should be concerned or not, but I put in a pre-order for a MME GT PE when the MY23's opened on 30 August. Within an hour of placing the reservation online, I got a call from my dealerships Internet sales department, who confirmed my order. They then sent me an order form to sign. Between sending me that, and me sending it back, I got an email from Ford indicating they got my order, and they would be in touch with an update within 45 days. However, I have NOT been asked or provided a pre-order deposit? Is a deposit strictly required? Thanks!

Ford collected my credit card info and $500 at the end of the online ordering process.

They asked me if I was going to do a trade-in, and I said 'yes' and provided info about my current car. Didn't ask me for a deposit? Thanks for the info.

Good to hear you found a straight shooting dealer.

Did you get the dealer to notify you of COVP/ROVP status as "Unscheduled - Clean" ?

Just to be clear, it seems as if ANY dealer will be a straight shooter IF you start the process online. Your order goes straight to manager at the dealer, and they plug this in to the system.

as far as shady markups when the car arrives, I guess no one knows which dealers will be shady.

The dealer hasn't told me anything really. Just had me sign the pre-order. The only thing I know is that we all have to wait until Ford picks up the order from the bank at which point we get a VIN and production date. Im not too sure what COVP/ROVP is.

As for the aforementioned shenanigans dealer, I have heard absolutely nothing at all from them or the sales rep. It will be an interesting experiment to see which order gets picked up 1st.

I called around 6 different dealers when I was looking for a reservation dealer on the Lightning. 5 out of 6 said they charge ADM and have low allocations.

6th one was 2 counties away (OC) and said they don't charge ADM plus they had the highest # of volume sales & special order allocations.

Sure enough, going with them got me into a 2022 Lightning even after 30,000 other reservations were ahead of me.
