@RickMachE So what is the process then? Someone at Ford corporate just clicks the green button so the site goes live at a random point in the day? On whatever day it actually happens?

Is the website independent from dealer’s ability to order? Should we bother reaching out to our dealers or just wait for the web to update before reaching out?
I'd personally order from a dealer or reach out to them beforehand ordering online so you can confirm that there will be no games played at time of delivery.

The ordering process is online. Then the dealer confirms it, and it goes into the Ford system as an order. Ordering online ensures you get the best available tracking from Ford, whereas ordering at the dealership does not. There is zero reason to order at the dealership.

Like any website change, the change is queued up and goes live when the company chooses to have it do so. You have zero reason to order from a dealership directly for the Mach-E or Lightning. Zero. Just wait.

Also know that WHEN you order isn't going to impact when your vehicle is made. Dealership prioritizes THEIR orders. They get an allotment from Ford. Ford prioritizes all orders and groups things together as parts supplies or profits dictate (they may decide to push out all GTs for example). If you're in a ZEV state (go look it up if you don't know what that means), your vehicle will overall get a higher priority than a non-ZEV state.

My 2021 Mach-E was ordered on 5/29/21. It wasn't delivered to me until 5/17/22.

At this moment I don't see a clear answer. For the '22's one reserved online. Both dealers I talk to believe Ford is going to open order up to in-person in-dealership orders first. If you read this thread you're going to see folks claiming one or the others. Cool, but IMHO they're guessing like we are.

Since we're all guessing I'll share mine: I see value in requiring in-person dealer orders first, so that's my bet.

I finally found a localish dealer that will do X-Plan (EAA), but they want me to come in. It's a bit of drive, but I want to check them out too, so I don't really mind. Everyone else around here requires ADM. Dealer called this morning, said not today, at least that was courteous.

Update: Never mind, no X-plan: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/2023-ordering.20964/page-8#post-495495

Seems like a good reason to order from a dealer rather than strictly online. Seems they might prioritize you in their allocation then. Not a guarantee of course, but given a choice between someone that you've talked to vs. a nameless person on the internet..

I think he is saying more so that the time of order in a short period of time doesn't really matter. They are going to get their dealer allocation no matter what. The benefits of contacting the dealer before ordering from the website is that:
1. See if they accept X-plan. This is a pretty big one in states that have large doc fee.
2. No extra bs added like tints, protection, adm etc.

Ordering on the website without confirming those things with the dealer would potentially cost you thousands down the line.

I had a good experience last year ordering online and selecting the dealer I wanted. I had emailed with one of the dealer’s internet sales managers to let them know I was ordering and to expect to see it within 10-15 minutes. Sure enough after submitting, I had the confirmation of order submitted in my inbox from the dealer almost immediately. It was clearly an easy process on their side to confirm. Order to delivery took 5 months. So personally I wouldn’t bother going in, but that’s just me. If I had to guess, somebody at each dealership will be manually entering orders they’ve got lined up and approving once the order banks open up, and that’s the only difference. I prefer to have more of it in my control than to hope someone submits my order quickly.

She said she was going to follow-up with me today when she gets in to see if it's live.... I mean I really don't mind going in and doing it... But I'll let you know if/when she says something
Don't know when 2023 ordering will start, but at least the 2023 Order Guide is published now. So there's that.

Does anyone know where the x-plan discounts for the different trims on the MY 2022's are posted?
