I already qualify for X-Plan, I was asking if you can do it via online order or only at the dealership.
They accepted it before, some dealerships didn't but some did, has there been a corporate change in the policy?
Ford says MY23 Mach-E is not eligible for X-Plan.

My dealership for whatever reason thinks he can place an order at 1 pm PST today. The new increased pricing will not take effect until 8/30. So I’m wondering if he’ll be able to order at 2022 pricing. Time will tell.
Now that we're past 1 PM PST, any update from your dealer?

Well that sucks. Trading in my 21 for a 23 is sounding less and less appealing all the time.

You don't do anything with X-plan when placing the order, the PIN was used when purchasing. But it's moot because it seems that Ford did change their policy for 2023.

Why wouldn't it? The 2022 already does.
The $55k car / $80k SUV & Truck rules don't kick in until 2023. The government have not issued guidance yet on how that will be applied. If you any dealer tells you it will qualify come 2023 they are not being truthful. All anyone can say at this point, is what VW released as a statement and that based on what is known and pending further guidance we expect but can't guarantee it will apply. Ford has not released any statement that I can find.

One key unknown is what is the definition of a SUV and will the Mach-E meet that. Other laws based around vehicle class use passenger vehicle, and light duty truck. SUV can mean many different things.

Yes, there is a lot that is up in the air until official secretary guidance is released. However, there is verbiage in the act that implies that the classifications will follow the EPA. But it's true that nobody at this point, including auto manufacturers, can say what will qualify next year.

That's the bit of the rub. the law sates "criteria similar" to that employed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Energy.

EPA fuel economy included SUV and the Mach-E is classified as a SUV in the Small SUV category. That is what everyone expects them to use. It's one of the few spots in Federal rules that use the SUV term so it would make sense to use that.

However the DOE and EPA emissions vehicle classes don't classify SUV's. The Mach-E is a light duty vehicle in those standards.

Reply text from my dealer (in northern CA) today: "...might open mid September...we don't have a confirmation from Ford yet..." Sounds like he really doesn't have a clue. I'm stalking these forums and the ford website for more official word. :(

According to the IRs website, '21 and '22 Mach-E's all qualify for the $7500 deduction. Probably to early to say for sure about the '23's, but since it looks like the battery sourcing requirements don't come in till '24, I'd be surprised if those "put into service" before the end of '23 didn't get it too.

I’ve seen several folks say this, that the battery requirements don’t take effect until 2024, but I don’t understand where that is coming from.

The law’s text states the battery requirements come into effect following the secretary’s proposed guidance, and it says the Secretary must propose that guidance no later than December 31, 2022.

What, if anything, am I missing that would cause the battery requirements to not take effect in 2023, aside from a decision to waive the requirements?

``(B) Applicable percentage.--For purposes of subparagraph
(A), the applicable percentage shall be--
``(i) in the case of a vehicle placed in service after
the date on which the proposed guidance described in
paragraph (3)(B) is issued by the Secretary and before
January 1, 2024, 50 percent,

And:

(B) Deadline for proposed guidance.--Not later than
December 31, 2022, the Secretary shall issue proposed guidance
with respect to the requirements under this subsection.'
