My dealership is saying it’s normal for a brand new Mach E to have pretty loud clunking noises when stopping or going.. Even turning the wheel on a stop makes the noise. is it normal? All my friends’ Teslas don’t have this noise - starting to regret not getting a Tesla.

No, not normal. I’ve had two MMEs and neither made these noises. I’d go to a different, less stupid dealer.

Yup….stupid dealer. Sadly, EVs are treated differently among dealers, which are each separately owned and managed. Find the ones committed to becoming an EV ‘Supersenter’.

Mine made the same noises initially. I got my 2023 California Rt1 in July and the noise has tapered off over time . I don’t hear it anymore. Not saying it’s normal, I thought it was some break (no pun intended) in period.

When we test drove our Mach E, the dealer hadn't removed some shipping material under the car. The looked like plastic squares. The squares caused a lot of loud clunking. You may want to ask your dealer to insure that all of the shipping material has been removed.

Edward, not sure what dealer you took your car to but I would suggest going to Serramonte Ford in Colma. Call and ask for Jason Lakey. He is the Service and Parts Director and a long time personal friend of mine. Tell him Mark Boris referred you. Hopefully they can find your issue.

Did they lift the hood looking for an engine?
I don’t know. They told me they drove another MME on the lot and since that one makes noise (not sure if that one is as loud), they call it normal. Initially they were going change the caliper but decided not to because if it wasn’t the caliper dealership will get back charge..

I heard a loud clunk one time, then my Mach-e displayed an error. I immediately took it to the dealer. One week later I had it back after warranty repairs.
