I’m at an event and currently all 50amp plug ins are occupied. I have access to a 30amp adapter. Will that still work, maybe not as fast, to charge using the Ford Mobile Charger? Last option is the 15 amp level 1

I'm not sure what you're referring to as a "30amp adapter", but no do not plug in the Ford Mobile charger to an outlet rated for 30A. The mobile adapter draws 32A at 240V -- you will trip a breaker or overheat the circuit.

It’s a 3 prong socket vs 4 but not the household type. Sorry I’m not that techie

If the outlet only has 3-prongs, you wouldn't have the right cord (pigtail) to connect the Ford Mobile Charger anyways.
If you have an adapter that is converting the 4 prongs from Ford Mobile Charger cord to fit the 3 prong outlet, then still don't use it because of Amp reasons above.

It’s not worth it. You’re absolutely correct

I assume you meant that you have an adapter that goes from your “household plug” pigtail to the 3 prong 30amp plug? If so, I have one and it works fine, but still charges as slow as a regular 15amp outlet.

30 amp outlets (3 prong) at campgrounds and event centers are 120v. The Ford Mobile charger will only draw 8 amps if it detects 120v, so does not matter if you pick one rated for 15 or 30 amps.

If you somehow have a screwed up adapter that’s trying to plug the 240v pigtail into a 120v plug, then the charger will just throw a fault and won’t charge; EV chargers are programmed to check that everything is wired correctly before opening current to the vehicle.

Tesla’s mobile charger actually uses its own adapter that lets it draw more from 30amp plugs, but we don’t get that sadly.

Several people on here use the 120V pigtail on 240V to get double (about 2.4 KW) the L1 charge rate. So that’s not checked, at least.

I‘ve not heard of anyone trying the reverse, there would nothing to be gained even if it functioned.

To put it another way — the 120v pigtail will draw 12A at either 120V or 240V. So, if you can connect it to a 30A 240 source, it’s safe and will net you double what 120V would give you from the same pigtail.

OP said they weren’t techie, so didn’t suggest this earlier.

Wow Lol
That’s…great I guess. Not sure if I’m happy that I could potentially get faster charging in that scenario, or if I’m worried that the charger doesn’t test if the neutral has voltage…

Anyways OP, I guess don’t try anything silly then ?

No EVSE uses the neutral on 240V.

The only exception to the 3 prong thing is the NEMA 6-50R outlet. It's meant for 240V/50A connections. Otherwise, no go. ??

My co-worker's duck club has 10-30R sockets at 240V, which is why I bought a Tesla Mobile Connector and their 10-30P pigtail. The pigtail tells it to de-rate to 24A, which should be safe for 30A circuits. ??
