I can clear app data and get a log in screen. Logging in goes to loading and then a crash. Good thing I wasn't away from home and stranded by the loss of paak.

Well, if you were, that would be on you, because there are enough failures of PaaK to tell you that it has reliability issues.

Clear app data and cache.
Uninstall app.
Reboot phone.
Install app.

Uninstall reboot did nothing. Do you have T-Mobile? There was a large june security update just before the new version of fordpass

Also android has a crash message that comes up that says the app has a bug and the developer needs to update it

My next thought is that paak is flagged in my account but was corrupted and now missing on my phone so it is crashing when I log in. I will try to remove phone as a key in the car when I get a chance

Did you clear app data and cache before uninstalling?

Use the door keypad code to get in the car, use the password on the radio to start the car in the event PAAK fails.

The new app update does suck, mine doesn't update anymore except the first time I use it each day but PAAK still works fine.

Newest FordPass is working fine on my S22+ (I just don't think it is a very well designed app).

And yah I absolutely do not trust Paak. I got two fobs with my car. Always have one in my pocket. The other stays at home in case I lose the first. Though I looked it up and they are only around $100 to replace.

Generally disappointed Paak is so flakey. I hate carrying any extra shit in my pockets especially in the summer (personal problem ?). Would be great to just rely on my phone.

Just putting my two cents in: my Android Note 9 with 4.17 is working fine for me. PaaK has been very reliable since updating to 17. When I go out of town, I have a Fob hidden in my bag wrapped in tin foil just in case I have to leave the car with someone, but I never use my Fob. And I never carry a Fob if I am diving locally.

I have not had to use the backup code in months. When PaaK does fail, I just turn Bluetooth off and back on, then it connects and works. I have not had to do that since updating to 17.
