I recently got the BlueCruise update and had a chance to use it on the LIE. It worked great during the day but on the trip home at night on the same road i was able to use adaptive cruise control but BlueCruise did not come on. Are there night time limits to BlueCruise?

My hands-free works fine at night, usually. That said, it will occasionally not engage on highways where I know it works normally. There seems to be no logic as to when it decides not to work. Nighttime doesn’t seem to be a factor in my experience.

To add to the comment above, I've noticed HFBC randomly decides not to activate. Only solution seems to be turning the car off then on again.

That being said, I've used HFBC for long stretches of the LIE. Few weeks ago I used it going West from exit 73 at Tanger Outlets until I switched over to the Cross Island Pkwy (still activated) and then Belt Pkwy where HFBC coverage seems to be iffy and will switch on and off every few miles.

ok then i guess this is the current state of the art HFBC. Its a work in progress. Its nice to have when it works as long as its free, but given its spotty coverage and finicky nature Im not sure I would pay for it until it becomes more consistent

If lines are faint it may not see them at night. Or, if it is rainy and the road is reflecting light.

I've found it actually works better at night, because during the day, sun glare can hit the cameras upon which it will shut off until the glare is gone.
