Did they recommend to do all this under a full moon?

Does the car lock with the door open and then you are able to shut the door?
Under a full moon, after sprinkling salt over my shoulder...and then doing the hokey-pokey all around the vehicle!

I heard clicks when I press the lock button, but it was when I shut the driver door that locks audibly engaged, plus the short honk of lock confirmation.

I've had 7 failed attempts since June 7th. I did receive the "Fast Charge" update & then 7 consecutive Failures. Maybe I'll try some of these suggestions; but WHY?

12 attempts to get 4.2.6 to take. After following suggestions in this and the other threads I charged to 100%, did some freeway driving and 36 hours with car left on to charge the low voltage battery - it still didn't take. Took my car this morning to the start of a club bike ride and when I got back from the ride I checked and noticed that 4.2.6 did load successfully over the cell network sitting in the parking lot???

Hello, just picked up my GTPE two weeks ago and I’ve received several updates since starting with 4.2.1. The latest today is 4.2.4 which I believe was suppose to be the voice feedback update but my notes just say it’s an update to make future updates possible. I already had all of the latest features when I took delivery, including the camera button, voice feedback etc. Does anyone know why Ford can’t just push the latest update to my car instead of pushing these older versions? I guess the latest version is 4.2.6?

After failing to install after 10 tries, I took it to the dealership that I purchased it from. Told them the only precondition that possibly could cause 4.2.6 to fail installing was the failure of the 12v battery. They charged up the 12v battery, it passed their tests...and failed to install 4.2.6.

So the dealership contacted Ford Engineering who told them to try with a new 12v battery, which they installed in my vehicle. In the meantime, the dealership technician working on the car updated every possible module. And 4.2.6 still failed. Apparently Ford Engineering told the dealership to release the car to me, as they said the vehicle would update on its next scheduled 1:00am update.

The next morning I checked. Of course, 4.2.6 failed to install.
But Ford Pass was giving me a DIFFERENT ERROR MESSAGE. from the previous 10ish tries.
I called Ford Pass customer support and opened a ticket, and was transferred over to their In-Vehicle Technology/OTA Update team, a guy named Pedro looked at the vehicle (presumably over FDRS) and told me that 4.2.6 failed to install this last time because there was now a software incompatibility, and that another module would require updating (DC Fast Charging) first. Which brought up another issue --

This DC Fast Charging update 23-PUO105-DC-CHG2 installed successfully according to Ford Pass app...but the vehicle itself kept insisting it failed. After 2 days of discrepancy between the mobile app and the vehicle's GUI with (possible) failure to install at 1:00am, I called the OTA Update team again, and they insisted that no matter what my vehicle said, their servers showed that my car performed a successful update. They had me "reset the connection of the vehicle" (sounds like a cache clearance, to me) with the following "keystrokes"
1.Start car
2.Do display master reset (vol down + next track x 10 secs)
3.Turn off car
4.Open driver door and leave open
5.Lock car (using power lock button)
6.Shut driver door
7.Wait till overhead lights turn off, begin 2 minute timer
8.After two minutes, restart car and check updates

After which point, the car display then showed another update to be installed (23-PUO415-BLM-VIS) which then occurred within a couple hours.

And I have no idea if 4.2.6 will ever come, or has already been installed!
I just received 23-PUO415-BLM-VIS today. Received 4.2.5 on May 12th but have never got a notice about 4.2.6. Not sure if this recent update covered 4.2.6 or if it makes it possible for me to now receive 4.2.6. Time will tell.

Just wanted to add another data point.
I have a dashcam installed and had a bunch of failed 4.2.6 attempts.
Drove the car around for 30min, unplugged dashcam and charged to 100%. Then immediately started the software update and it finally worked.
Of course had to drive it to get the battery down from 100%.

The update failed for me multiple times over the past couple of weeks. Earlier this week, I tried the incantation in post #11 and it failed twice after that. Then I charged to my usual 90% overnight. The update failed while the car was charging, but was successful the next night. When I backed it out of the garage the morning after the successful update, 1 pedal was on, but as soon as I shifted into drive, I got an alert that 1 pedal was unavailable (or something like that). I drove to the gym and when I drove home 1 pedal was working again.

It's nice that Ford now at least informs the clients of the required preconditions that need to be met prior to an update. But what boggles my mind is why they don't think it would be helpful to TELL THE USER which of these preconditions is failing, when it reports "update failed to install". The result is that customers are still just as confused as before in most cases.

So many folks out there (myself included) seem to have 12v batteries that constantly sit on the threshold of too low for absolutely no apparent reason. This in itself is a problem because the vehicle is responsible for maintaining the 12v battery for normal operations (updates included), not the customer. So if the thing is low, and you the vehicle detected that, them charge the battery! I leave my vehicle plugged in all night and I still run into low 12v battery issues!

If you're going to have a feature that adds convenience and value for the customer like OTA updates, then you need to make sure that feature actually works as intended, and does not in itself become a constant recurring source of problems every time you push a new update that then results in support calls upon update failure, or visits to the dealer, otherwise what's the point?

Please fix the 12v battery issue that is obviously still very much an issue Ford.
