Wanted to post this because this forum allways has been of great help to explain my garage what’s wrong with my car ?

Today I’m going to pick up my 2021 Mach-E extended range, after the 7th time of replacing the hvjb. The “old” hvjb replacement parts broke down after a few months. Then the recall came in where ford said it wouldn’t break anymore. There thing is: this part keeps breaking after a week of regular driving, sometimes in a traffic stop.
Conclusion: The old part, for my car, was more capable than the new “indestructible” part

This time they replaced a whole wiring harness in the battery package including a new hvjb.

I’ll keep you updated. I’ll find out soon enough if this was the final fix ( if I manage to drive longer than a week would be a positive outcome).

YOur title is a bit misleading. YOu should fix it as you are NOT on your 8th REPLACEMENT battery but only on your 7th. 7 replacements is totally normal fo a car of this quality 8 would be considered slightly excessive...

Yes, I know. I’m one of the lucky people. I wish there was a lemon law in my country but we have no such thing. Ford produces very bad cars, exports them to Europe and laughs at you when you call Ford Netherlands. Go to your dealer they say. My dealer is great, when they noticed my car was rubbish they advised me to take additional warranty. With the part being replaced evryv week my new goal in life is to make Ford pay for at least 26 hvjb’s per year. I still have 5 years of extra. Warranty. Really bad aftersales experience.

same boat as you. I lost patience and will take more aggressive measure to make it fix permanently.

You would think that Ford would want to buy that car back just to figure out why this happened. Sort of a science experiment. Do a tear down analysis. Then put it back together and fully instrument it, and then just put a couple of crash test dummies in and have it parked on a railroad crossing and film the whole thing.

Wow.
If only they gave you 30,000 ford points each time it was replaced you could have bought a different vehicle on the next round.
Just. Wow.
Have you taken to X or something social media? That seems to get the job done lately.

I'm not an expert in any way regarding the EV high voltage battery design. But if the HVJB were to fail multiple times in such short periods, logic would imply that it's not the HVJB.

If a main breaker failed in a power distribution panel, and 7 more replacement main breakers failed in short order, at what point does the electrician look for the cause for the short lifespan compared to every other similar main breaker that's not failing?

Right! After that many failures I strongly suspect the issue with this specific vehicle is downstream from the HVBJB. With that many original -and- revised parts thrown at the problem and a failure each time quickly, that suggests it’s not merely the so/so sizing of the original part. I’m betting something else is drawing more amperage or generating more heat than it should be and killing the HVBJB faster than is “normal” for even the impacted vehicles. That many failures implies the HVBJB in -this vehicle- is just the weak link, maybe not the root cause. If I were Ford I would A) want that vehicle off the road so it isn’t continuing to generate bad PR and B) want to tear that thing down and see what’s going on that’s making their official fix not work and make sure it’s an isolated issue, because it’s just going to keep blowing HVBJBs.
