I just updated my Mach E software with the OTA "Priority Update 23-PU0110-RAD-PS" (what ever that means!). The software is designed to address the issues where the radio presets are lost during the updates. Leave it to our engineers at Ford but the software lost all my press stations on my Sirius display; a minor inconvenience. However, the next time I charged my ME (for a long road trip)and resetting the EV Driving History, I charged to 100% and got 313 miles of range!
( normally only charge to 90% range)

This is a first! My previous long distance estimate to empty was only 305 miles. Maybe Fords's engineers are on to something? For this I give them them two thumbs up ??

Sigh... Nothing changed, it's just a range estimate that varies depending on weather conditions. You might have been driving more slowly than usual or the weather is more optimal than usual today. The actual range of your vehicle is unchanged after the software update, the engineers did not add more range.

You realize if you actually take a 75 MPH highway trip somewhere the car is only going to go about 240 miles on a charge, right? Not 300+

Posts like this really make me worried about range meter manipulation tactics, because a lot of people will believe they are actually getting more range if they tweak the algorithm to show more. It's just a guess that changes a lot.

How about driving posted speed limits and check if there are range meter manipulations? Every ICE and E car I have owned I got better than listed mileage rating. 4 E cars and 6 ICE cars in last 15 years.

The guys who never leave a 10 mile radius worried about range lol

We went to a Cars and Coffee event on Saturday with our Lightning. Got asked about range by many. When I asked them how often they drive 275 miles without stopping, most stuttered.

From the title of the thread I was expecting a 100K mile odometer reading. ?‍♂?

It's crazy how much this comes up with EVs too, it's not like DTE is a new thing just for EVs, ICE vehicles have DTE and have for a while. If I drive my F-150 PowerBoost nicely at 65 MPH, I can get the DTE to show about 750 miles of "range" at the next fill up. But if I then get back on the highway and do 80, I would run out after 650 miles. It's a largely meaningless number in ICE vehicles as in EVs, as almost nobody has the exact same driving speeds/conditions from trip to trip. It's fine as a rough estimate so you can do some trip planning, but for all the reasons you noted you definitely shouldn't rely only on the full number shown before leaving.

I love the negativity everyone posts. I’ve never seen so much complain about

When the first large roll out of computers in the 80s, things weren’t as rosy as Apple, IBM etc made it out to be. Yes, there wasn’t social media and chat rooms that we have today, but I remember all the frustration that I had with software and hardware issues and all the hours I spent to the phone with customer service.
The ME is basically the first generation of computers. You’re going to have bugs in the system. We need to take it for what it is
For your information, I ended up with 255 miles of range doing 74 mph on an interstate and then sitting in bumper to bumper traffic. I had a range to empty of 32 miles. That’s 287 miles. I’ll take it. It’s not the best but I didn’t buy the ME to go 30 mph all day. I’ve had ICE cars where the EPA estimated 28 mpg and if I got 18-21 I was lucky

My advice is to keep pressure on Ford to improve, but give them a break with all the pettiness.

Agree.
A couple decades ago I had a Mercury Capri which was a fun car to drive but of course no DTE. It could run out of gas with the fuel gauge at 1/8th tank or not until the gauge was well below empty. Maddening, so I learned to keep the tank at or above 1/4 full. Next car was a Toyota Prius with the DTE calculation. I learned that it always underestimated distance to empty, but did so consistently based on roads and conditions.
Lesson: Drive the distance as you know your car and conditions. I now have enough experience to know how much wind, temperature, elevation change, speed, etc. affect my MME driving distance.

Hey, clear your driving history and then charge to 100%, I did and drove around as happy as a dog with two knobs?

……….until it Re-learned driving style and reality hit home ?
