I just ordered a A2Z supercharger adapter. Now I’m having second thoughts because of the concern that if I have battery issues it could be related back to me using a non Ford approved adapter. Any thoughts or similar concerns from this group. I’m new to the group and new to the EV world. Thanks.

A2Z makes a quality product, you don’t need to worry about that. No issues that caused damage have been reported with the A2Z.

You just want to stay clear of the cheap no-name Chinese adapters.

I've used the Tesla / OEM adapter, A2Z and Lectron adapter. They all work great and are built to UL standards.

I would have no problem using any of those three on a road-trip with my family.

I have the Ford (Tesla), Ford (Lectron), and A2Z adapters. The A2Z adapter is the best of the bunch, including in thermal behavior. The Lectron adapter is a close second, but here in the desert southwest during the 120+ degree summer heat, it heats up more and causes the charge rate to slow.

If you think for a sec, what are the likely cases where a battery failure would be traced (definitively) to an adapter? The adapter has no smarts, it's just a copper electrical connector with some latches (ok, the A2Z has a temperature sensor (or two) for safety). There's no conversions or monkeying with the signaling protocols possible - it's just a hunk of copper.

Remember, the burden of proof for a warantee refusal is on the company refusing the warantee. They will have to prove the adapter caused the problem. They can't just deny because you used one, I mean they can, but it's a very trivial filing to say "nope, buster, prove it".

It would be more likely that the chargers you use could be at fault.

I know some people are mega afraid. If so, the two cost about the same, go Ford if you like peace of mind.

I have both and the ford seems to fit better under the dash / nook so it lives there and I use it more. Both A2Z and Lectron seem to make great gear and it's hard to even imagine a case where the adapter could be called into question.

This.

The A2Z is a quality product. Don’t second guess yourself @mjvjindy. Follow proper protocol and you’ll not have issues.

I had both and decided to sell the Ford one (and keep the A2Z one) because I knew the A2Z one worked ( I received it first) and I liked the build quality a little more.

If I were buying one now it would be the Ford-engineered and Ford branded adapter made by Lectron. However, I wouldn't hesitate to use the A2Z. Right now the A2Z would be my second choice.

Also, why would service need to know you used a non-Ford adapter?
