About to replace my stock tires…

So I have a 2021 GT. I live in Seattle with lots of rain and occasional snow and ice. I’ve appreciated the stock All Seasons that the GT came with. They feel like they’ve been good to me.

Sadly they are at end of life. I hit a screw in the sidewall of one and the tire place says it can’t be patched. They said my tread is too low to replace a single tire so I’m going to get a new set.

Until this car I’ve never gave much a damn about what tires I buy. Cheapest all seasons usually. But this car is special and I want to treat it right. I’ve read some convincing things about buying EV tires rather than ordinary tires for range. Any opinions?

I went with the Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus, they have been great. They're smooth and quiet, and have held up well.

I live and drive in the Black Hills of SD elevation of 5000 -7500 ft. Lots of rain, hail, snow and ice. I had Michelin Cross Climate year round tires put on my 23 MME after only 4000 miles on the stock Goodyear tires. Great traction, stopping, and steering control with the Michelins. I have 3 vehicles with these tires on. I put these tires on after the stock Goodyears would cause braking on hard packed snow with the 1 pedal deceleration.

Lots of us got those Hankook iONs. I've been happy with them. The original Michelin Primacys were good too. Both good choices.

Was efficiency the same, better, or worse moving from the Primacy AS to the iON EVO SUV AS?

I'm not a tire expert on my own, but I've extensively read the tire posts here on macheforum.

Three tires that are highly recommended include:

• Pirelli P Zero AS Plus 3
• Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect
• Michelin CrossClimate2

Here are some comparative scores:

For your situation, with frequent rain and occasional snow, I would suggest the CrossClimate2. Those also happen to be the tires Ford selected for the new Mach-E Rally.

The CrossClimate2 also are 3PMSF certified, which means they meet stringent standards for ice and snow driving. Neither the Hankooks nor either of the above Pirelllis also have that certification.

Edit: Since you drive a GT you might lean more toward the Pirelli tires. See posts below.

Read the Tire Rack review on in the Pirelli PZero AS plus 3. They found it to be among the best all season uhp tires. Crossclimate’s are great tires, I have them on my Cmax. But they are grand touring tires as opposed to ultra high performance tires. For a GT you can’t go wrong with the Pirelli PZero AS +3’s.

By the way, I had the PZero elects on my 22 GTPE. They were quiet and nice, but were not good in the wet. Switching to the AS +3’s produced a quieter, smoother ride, much improved wet performance, and my range did not change at all. I also replaced the stock wheels at the same time, so that may have helped my range remain constant.

Good point. I suggested the CC2 above but didn't consider OP was driving a GT.

I have a GT. The CrossClimate2 are my winter tires and the OEM continental all-seasons are my summer road trip tires. The Hankooks appeal to me if they can get more range than the original tires.

If compared to the stock Continental tires, the CC2s get -6% range and the Hankooks get +4% more range, that’s a big difference between the two.

I should have noted in my OP that I'd LIKE to buy from Les Schwab if I can. So that limits my options a bit. They just have fantastic customer service, and I have a lot of loyalty to them for all the pro bono work they've done for me over the years. Plus they have a fantastic warranty.

Personally I am using:

• Summer: 4x Pirelli P Zero (PZ4) Elect
• Winter: 4x Pirelli P Zero AS Plus Elect

The AS aren't really dedicated winter ties but they work well enough for my climate.

My wife has the CC2 on her EV and we are very happy with winter performance.

I highly recommend Michelin pilot s4.
I bought mine at costco. Great handling tire. You won't regret it..
Stay away from any harder compound tires.

I live in an area that experiences weather from all 4 seasons and plan to get the Crossclimate 2s when I have to. I'd rather lose a bit of range for better grip no matter what weather is thrown my way. Besides the Crossclimate 2s are good enough to be standard on the Mach-E Rally so it's good enough for me.
