So I just gotta say, I’m impressed. I plugged in my car this morning at a free public L2 near the office. I do this about once a week to charge up.

Around lunch, FordPass sent me an alert about an “accidental unplug.” I walked over to check it out and, sure enough, some jerk had unplugged my car(at about 60%) and left the plug on the ground.

Obviously we don’t get this message every time we unplug, which means Ford was smart enough to design the feature to only alert when the car is unplugged AND none of the doors are unlocked.

That’s smart! Yay Ford! Now give me Sentry Mode so I can see the tool the next time he unplugs me.

I say we jolt those little nitwits with 250k volts.

No amps though 'cuz we wouldn't want to harm the little fellas.

I guess the charger doesn’t lock into the port on the car?

It’s a nice feature, but also flawed. I plug in at work too. When my car reaches 90% and stops charging, I get an accidental unplug message. If I’m at home at the car stops charging because it’s 7AM (end of my off peak charge window) I get an accidental unplug message.

Some EV's lock L2 and all charge cables, for that matter, to the car. My previous EV did and I wish the MME did as well.

Actually I wish it did until full, then I think it would be appropriate to release for someone else in case of those who have no charge station etiquette.

Ya know this makes me think… it wouldn’t make sense at every public charger but I’m surprised we don’t see like “charger attendants” at certain places. People who could make sure nobdy unplugs you and if they do, to plug you back in.

It is a great feature. But it's not so smart for me. I get one about 50% of the time when I stop the charge from the button on the car.

But it's alerted me when a charge station errored and turned off.
