Adaptive cruise control issues

I have the car booked in to have Ford take a look at this, but in the meantime, has anyone had this issue and are aware of any fix?

Adaptive cruise control & lane keeping ‘appears’ to be functioning & working correctly until I drop out of cruise momentarily for whatever traffic-related reasons.

Problem is, when resuming cruise via the steering wheel button, the car accelerates very rapidly & in high speed heavy traffic this can be quite alarming. Then break to stop this, try to resume again but the same issue happens again. Never have experienced this on any of my other cars with adaptive cruise, that was always fairly relaxed as one would expect.

Is this a known Mach-E fault? Surely this behaviour can’t be normal? Thanks for any insights.

Go into "Driving assist" in the settings menu on your car and turn off "speed limit assist" This may not reset until the next time you restart your car.

This is Ford's attempt to teach the car to read speed limit signs. It doesn't work very well and the most common complaint that I have read about in these pages is that it slows the car way down suddenly. In your,(and my) case, it speeds up suddenly. I think this is really unsafe and I'm really surprised that Ford has kept it in it's present form. IMHO they should either fix it or disable it.

I have found a certain point along I-5 near me where the car always accelerates to 88 MPH, and another point on one of my city streets IN A FREAKING SCHOOL ZONE where the car always accelerates to 44 mph.

Set more car lengths.

Normal, if you have it set to like 55 and traffic slowed down to 15 if you turn it back on and the road is clearish its going to take off in a cheek puckering fashion. It will also happen if you get cut off and slowed down and the person subsequently moves out of the way.

We have found that if a speed limit sign is missing the adaptive cruise control will default to 70 mph in local roads. Fortunately we are exactly where this occurs locally. Be aware.
