Last year in one of my threads I listed changes I noticed between my ‘21 Premium and ‘21 GTPE to my ‘24 GTP. There are more changes than this I’m sure but it’s just the ones I noticed or knew about. Here’s my list from that thread:

1. Rear cargo hold down rings are plastic instead of metal
2. Driver/passenger kick plates no longer have an aluminum "Mustang/GT" plaque
3. Dual USB-C ports at the console rear instead of one USB-C and USB-A
4. Front Driver/Passenger doors no longer have a lock actuator (presenter)
5. Removed kick to open liftgate feature
6. Eliminated the inside illuminated open/close button on the liftgate panel
7. Rear speaker grills no longer have a B&O emblem
8. Removed the windshield wiper defrosters
9. Removed hood bump stops
10. Removed parking assist feature
11. Ceiling grab handles no longer damped, when released, they snap up quickly
12. Front camera through windshield has a white casing instead of black
13. High beams don't seem to be as bright as the ones in the '21 (low beams the same)
14. Front headrests on premium no longer tilt forward/backward
15. No more sound insulation padding behind door panels
16. Removed front grille camera washer
17. Cargo cover has slightly thicker support posts, more difficult to attach and remove
18. Shark fin antenna on roof no longer on a separate metal area by itself
19. Wireless charger is a separate metal plate within the plastic console bottom
20. Front proximity sensor beep has a higher pitch tone than rear proximity sensor beep
21. Start/Stop button no longer has a flashing green LED
22. Front side windows are no longer acoustic (laminated) after July '24
23. There are three things about the audio system that I've noticed
(a) The overall volume is at least 2db louder for any given volume control setting
(b) Dash tweeters sound more harsh in their lower frequency range
(c) The OEM 6x9 woofer bass frequencies sound deeper but it has an mis match of time alignment. It hits after the door speakers so a single kick drum almost sounds like two kick drums hit.
After removing the rear quarter panel to access wires I needed to install my aftermarket sub, I noticed the B&O amp is a different shape and it is also a larger than the previous one.
So does this ( Front Driver/Passenger doors no longer have a lock actuator (presenter) ) mean it doesnt open the front door when you press the button, just unlocks it? never realized they removed that.

Correct. The front doors just barely pops open. However since it has a handle to pull, it doesn’t need to push open like the back doors which don’t have a handle.

Technically, the door gets unlocked and the latch is disengaged. The car no longer pushes the door open since the only thing that pops the door slightly is the latch. ??

Not sure if the headrest is the same as my 2023 premium version, but for mine, I had to pull the headrest towards the front windshield to get it to reset its position.

This video helps demonstrate what I mean.
Thanks for this post. After 4.5 years of ownership, I finally learned that the uncomfortable headrests are tilt adjustable!

2024 Premium headrest not adjustable.
My 2024 Job 1 Premium headrest tilt also NOT adjustable. It looks to be in the forward position. My 2018 Fusion energi had it. Ford, for cryin' out loud, stop taking features away!!!

The 4-way adjustable headrest for premiums was decontented, in late MY23, I believe. Apparently, Ford telemetry told them that owners weren’t using the feature ?
I wonder if Ford also knows I never used the feature because I had no idea it existed. Sales people really didn't do the job on that one.

My 2023 Premium does have the adjustable headrests. I took delivery in January, 2023, so it was one of the earlier 2023 built models.

Is there a list of things that have been removed from first launch? I have a ‘21 and I’m glad i got most of the things.

Removed so far:
- Park Assist
- Hands Free Trunk open/close
- Sprayer for front camera
- Head Rest adjust

Im sure there are a few more.
I have a front camera washer??? How does that work? Does it come on at the same time as the window washer?

This is unfortunate, since the other function of this feature was to break open an iced door in cold climates.

This is not unique to Ford. A lot of the automaker who were installing tilt headrest a few years ago have stopped installing them as they were found to be unsafe. Thats what Subaru who has also stopped installing them told me at least. 🤷‍♂️

Why were they unsafe? I’d like to read more about that.

I’m willing to bet that it’s not because of safety unless the design of that particular manufacturer was suspect to begin with. 🤔🐩

I think they told me that sometimes in rear end collisions they would move forward causing whiplash and neck injuries. This is just what Subaru told me, I can’t verify it. They also told me other manufacturers are going away from them as well… clearly Ford is one of them.

That sounds like a dealer tale rather than fact?

I would argue the adjustable headrests are safer because you can properly set the gap (you want a gap less than 2”) to minimize head travel during a rear-end collision, which can reduce whiplash injury. But I suppose the flip side is people adjusting the headrests too far back (“It’s touching my head sometimes!”) and getting more injured. A lot of people have no clue why headrests are even there, much less how to adjust them properly for safety.
