With today’s nonstop hail, tornadoes and rain in Mississippi today, I was trying to think of an alternate way to protect your car during a storm that could wreak havoc your car. I don’t have a garage myself, and have to leave it out in the elements! We probably got extremely lucky in our neighborhood the hail and the tornadoes were like all around us, but we never got any, except high wind and rain.
I saw this and the fact that it’s 18 feet long and 6 feet wide and pretty heavy duty. You could lay it over the top of your car when there’s an impending storm coming and I don’t think it would really go anywhere? A lot of damage could be prevented!

Hey fellow coast-dweller! Rocking and Rolling today on the coast. The problem with any cover like this would be: 1) Keeping it covered in the tornadic winds that want to blow the cover off. 2) Keeping it from scratching the car if any grit gets on the car. 3. I bet this isn’t very light/portable.

I do like the concept of a hail shield!

Well, like I said, it’s kind of a thought. It does roll up and the way it attaches like it does on that picture, you could hook it to something secure. I agree the side wind is the problem.

The three houses where I live one to the right one to the left, they were all built at the same time last year and we weren’t given a carport or garage like the rest of the houses in the neighborhood sucks.

I feel like a moving blanket over the hood is probably going offer a good amount of protection and stay put once it gets wet.

I know I’ve seen car covers online that are like padded for hail damage

I tried a big piece of cardboard once. Never again. The wind will make whatever you put on the car scratch the shit out of it. Worse damage than if it had hailed on it. Paintless dent repair is cheaper and easier than paint correction or repainting.

Yeah I know, but a full car cover which because I’ve owned like six Mustang and a 40 Ford and never had a garage. I’m pretty confident in the covers that I bought. I’ve never had any issues after a storm, but I would consider the cover that has that padded Across the top for hail

I guess a fitted cover would work a lot better that a flat piece of anything that we may try :)

Why not the water mat, then put on the fitted car cover to hold it in place?

Sorry, I’m not having a visual what the water Mat is. Other than your mat you put in the shower?

Oh yeah, OK yeah someone had mentioned dirt could get underneath and blow it away. It’s pretty heavy though so I was thinking it could be tied down, but it’s a little too much probably

We get the occasional hail here in sunny CA. In my case last Thursday. Luckily the car was in the garage... (Luckily, I have a garage.)

Once, my sister, then living in IL had her cars totaled by a hail storm.
