i have had this problem for a while now and am able to connect via cable only.

i have tried reinstalling the app on my phone but it doesn't work.

i haven't tried rebooting Sync since i am not sure if that will wipe out any of my data.

any suggestions?

Rebooting sync will not erase your data. Did you ensure that Wireless App Projection is enabled in your sync settings?

Make sure you're not already connected via Bluetooth audio to the car. That seems to mess with the wireless Android auto connection.

When you're in the car, go into your phone's Bluetooth connection (with the car on) and go into settings and uncheck phone audio. You can leave the other ones enabled (i.e. contact list, etc)

You could try this:
- setup Bluetooth pairing with your phone as you normally would
- then turn the vehicle off completely
- on your phone:
=get into Android Auto app settings (Settings>Apps>See all apps>Android Auto>Advanced>See additional settings)
=scroll down to Version and start tapping version until Developer settings unlocks (takes about 10 taps)
=in the three-dot options menu on the top right of the screen, select Developer settings
=in Developer settings, tap Clear all data, and then be sure to check "Add wireless projection to settings" and go back AA settings
=ensure that there's no previous cars listed in AA
=toggle on Wireless Android Auto
- start your vehicle and watch your phone pair with Bluetooth. Then using Ford Sync, go through AA setup (but don't use a USB cable to connect, tap the Connect icon of your paired phone on Ford Sync) and cross your fingers, your toes, and probably your eyes as well....

I know this is obvious, but it's good to cover all the bases - confirm that WIFI is on.

this is likely to be a duh moment for me, but you mean Wi-Fi in the car? Yeah, that’s set to on

I'm sorry about my last post on this topic. It seems that there is some confusion. The app I was referring to was the Android Auto App. It has nothing to do with the FordPass app and as far as I can remember when I set up my car 9 months ago the only thing I had to do was tap the Android Auto button on the main screen. Wireless Android Auto WILL NOT work if the relevant setting is not activated in the ANDROID AUTO APP as per my photo.

I'll note that this was exactly the setting (in Android Auto on the phone) that I had to toggle to get things to work. On delivery day, my salesman and I spent a couple of confused minutes trying to set it up before we figured that out.

If you're using a Samsung phone then the problem may be One UI.
The Android 12 with the Jan. security update seems to fix the issue but not isn't available for all phones. Updated my wife's phone and it fixed her problem with wireless android auto.

I had this happen and I fixed it by manually connecting to the screen projection Wi-Fi AP on the car.
