Android auto playback keeps pausing

I used to have this problem maybe 0-2 times on a 2 hour drive, now I'm getting it 20-30 times in the same time span.

1. Media playback from my android auto keeps pausing
2. It doesn't stagger, just pauses as if someone pressed pause
3. I reset sync and my phone, doesn't help
4. Same problem on multiple apps (I tried pocket cast as well as pandora)
5. Pauses are different intervals (sometimes 2 times within 2 minutes, sometimes goes 30 minutes without any pause)
6. No issue starting back up, I press play and it goes fine until the next random pause
7. No alerts or notifications are popping up on my phone (i.e. it's not pausing because I'm getting a text)
8. Cell phone has good reception, plus the podcasts are actually pre-downloaded

Any ideas?

Not sure if this is it, but next time this happens try un-pausing through the Android Auto interface or via your phone's lock screen instead of using the vehicle's audio power on/off button.

Does this issue only occur when you are using navigation at the same time?

I've had my setup pause on me too but I feel like this has only happened a few times in total in almost two years of ownership.

Anyone with these issues also had any issue with the usb or usb c in front center console charging? I had a fault code this morning that usb device wasn't connected properly and all I had in were charging cables that didn't get unplugged. Neither one was charging, but luckily the wireless charging pad was working.
