Friday morning I noticed I got an OTA, nothing unusual and my morning commute was fine. Heading home Friday evening and making my usual call to my wife and it is all static. Everything else in Android Auto seems fine, except for making a phone call. Deleted my phone in the car and re-connected. Restarted the phone, same problem. My phone makes calls fine, just not through the MME.

Anyone having a similar problem? Any ideas on what else to try?

About all the car tells me as far as a revision is "Priority Update 23-PU1103-NAT-VCE" I'm not sure how to display what version, I have. It isn't very intuitive to say the least.

Thank you.

I had a similar issue with my phone in my 6-week-old 2023 Mach e and the problem more or less resolved itself over past few weeks and a few ota's.

It just happened to me after my Job 1 '21 received 6.2.1.

Renders phone calls and some Bluetooth audio unusable. The static is jarring and loud.

Interestingly enough, some Bluetooth audio works (e.g. podcasts, audiobooks), but others do not - phone calls, Microsoft Teams going through a data connection.

Pattern seems to be when there is two-way communication required, the issue happens. When it's just playback, it does not.

Running the latest Android, and do not have the issue with any other Bluetooth device.

Same. Was there ever a fix for this?

I haven't checked against the latest update, there has been a rapid succession this week for my 2023 premium. But my workaround has been to click the bluetooth icon and switch to my phones speaker. Annoying but workable for now.

Seems a pretty big miss for @Ford Motor Company but must be a small population given the feedback here.

Your 23 should have been fixed by one of the updates. My 23 had the bluetooth calling problem since it was purchased and was fixed by one of the updates about 6 weeks ago. Now if I could just get the update to fix the liftgate.

This is also happening with my Sony Xperia 1 II. On Powerup 6.8 and phone calls are still staticky.

Job 1, 21, at 6.6.0 and the issue is still present.

I used the "feedback" functionality for the first time to let them know about it.

Frustrating that it's a basic function that I am now having to plan conference calls around (the speaker option is okay sometimes, but not all.)

If it's not fixed soon, I may have to go old-school with a FM transmitter option.

I performed a full phone/PaaK removal yesterday in the hopes it would fix this, but alas, it has not.

The phone works fine in my other (non-Ford) vehicle.

I'm still on 6.6.0 and have left two "voice feedback" submissions with @Ford Motor Company .

I am hoping that when I get to 6.7 or later, it is fixed, but it has completely rendered my ability to use the phone functionality in the vehicle for going on two-plus months now.

Running Android 13, and successfully use phone bluetooth across a number of devices - just not this very expensive one.

I am to the point of having to plan meetings and commutes around when I can NOT be in the car to make/take phone calls.

I'd try other options, but the car insists on owning the bluetooth connection, so I cannot use a FM transmitter, a set of earbuds, etc. Speakerphone usage is terrible and causes more driving distraction than it's worth.

I am going to have to use a wired pair of headphones and hope that the car lets me route audio through it.

I'll go without my FRB. I just want technology from the mid-2000s to work.

I've also left voice feedback, and the issue still persits. @Ford Motor Company would you be able to escalate this issue somehow? It's obvious that it's happening across several brands of phones and Android versions, and it seems a recent update caused this issue.

I've seen no progress since originally reporting this but a couple of new reference points to share.

I have found that if I maximize the phone screen in android auto, I can manually select the phones speaker if I click the bluetooth icon but only after my call connects. A bit of a safety hazard having to click on it just right while trying to drive.

I also recently bought a lightning pro, and it doesn't have this problem.

I've had the same issue for the last few months and have been toggling the call between phone audio and bluetooth once the call connects to temporarily get rid of the static. I factory reset my phone to see if it resolved the issue - this worked for a few weeks, but the problem has since re-surfaced.

Curious - what phone do you have, and what version of Android is it on?

I too have switched to the phone speaker using the above method, but my speakerphone is not the loudest, so it's a compromise and I have found I have to do it twice - once when it's ringing if it's an outbound call and then again when the caller picks up. The car switches back the Bluetooth between those events.

Based on what I know of Bluetooth, it's most likely a compatibility issue they need to fix.

I'm on Android 13 on a Motorola RAZR 2023+, and the OS build is nearly "stock." I have 3-5 other Bluetooth devices I use with it for phone calls (including another car) and do not have issues.

Along with the incredible inconvenience, the volume of the static is startling.
