@Ford Motor Company is there an official position on whether this update will be available to 2021-2024 models? The original post just mentions that models prior to 2025 have a 3 year complimentary subscription to Connected Navigation and that it becomes a paid subscription after that. 🤔🐩

If they haven’t said yes, the answer is no. It’s not coming. Even Garmin can move faster than this. So can HERE. So no, it’s not coming.

dis-Connected Navigation™ Ford was I think the first 3rd party granted access to the Tesla Supercharger network, yet still can't natively navigate and precondition to any that require an adapter. If you are tech savvy and love figuring out work arounds, then yeah you can use ABRP or Apple Maps. Still can't precondition unless you use Android Auto.

So road tripping in a 2024 or less Mach-E is doable, but it's certainly not seamless.

Seems like kind of a backwards announcement....lots of details on how the new toy works, very few on how/when/where to get it.... you know, the stuff people really wanna know. 🤪

If you truly don't know the basics, probably should delay the announcement, jus' sayin'...

Under promise, over deliver. 🙂

You can get it quite easily. It’s available at your Ford dealers on 2025 or 2026 mach-e’s. :p

But is it? You'll notice not AI Brian says "will be coming..." to 2025 models. No mention of when. And besides, there are FAR more of us interested in when/if/how it will apply to our pre-'25 models.

Ford's PR game needs a little tune up... 🤡

Honestly, there was nothing else to report at the time. There’s still nothing to report or they’d have said something. Despite the radio silence on the subject for the past year since the first post, Brian (not AI), does read these forums. He’s doing his job, including not saying something when there’s nothing to say.

The deal with Tesla was announced in May 2023 and access occurred on March 1, 2024 (iirc). There’s obviously been enough time for the native nav system to be updated and patched as needed to provide supercharger locations and navigation. We know this because the 25s have it in the Ford Nav system. That means that the failure to push to earlier model years is either intentional or the system is far more convoluted than we think.

As near as I can tell, charger locations are not simple pin point locations in the HERE database. There are a whole set of rules governing when they’re listed. It’s possible that the 21 -24s whitelisted only CCS-1 DCFC. Further, automakers apparently typically lock map feature schemes by vehicle generation, or so I’ve read anyway. If that’s the case, I think it’s likely that there was a new contract with HERE which included the supercharger network and that such an addition to the 21 - 24 data base exceed the limits of the contract with HERE. Please keep in mind that this is mostly a thought analysis. I don’t even know enough about programming or map databases to be dangerous — I’m a pilot and lawyer is all. I’m also known to be regularly wrong, just ask my cat.

Ok, since I have my serious hat on, the proper answer might be as follows:

Good question! Ask a forum 2025 owner to go check. Do NOT ask a forum 2025 owner who lives in Hawaii to go check, unless they live on Oahu.

It’s been reported a few times here, and the post by @Ford Motor Company predated the start of the 25 model year production, but we don’t have an actual non-forum official Ford document that says so, and I’m not serious enough atm to go look for one because I’m already far enough down a rabbit hole on BlueCruise, moroney stickers, disclosure, lawsuits, and deceptive in some idle curiosity legal research that I don’t want another rabbit hole to venture down.

As a 2025 owner, I can assure you that the Tesla charging locations show up as navigation destinations. It does filter by sites that are open to non-Tesla vehicles, you you will not be directed to one you cannot use.

I have navigated to Tesla sites several times. I realize this does not help the pre-25 owners, but it does work on the 25's.

Ahh. That sucks. We got it on our 24 and I assume all the older ones got it too. Ford really is dropping the ball on software updates.
Ford is dropping the ball on EVs, regardless of their protestations otherwise and regardless of many of their dedicated employees efforts.
