This whole thing is just absurd. I would readily pay for connected navigation if it included updates with Tesla charger locations, and allowing preconditioning to them. I like the Ford connected NAV over Apple CarPlay maps. Without the Tesla upgrades it’s not much good for me. ? (BTW I have a 2021 premium which is now only receiving recall notices but not any new OTAs for quite some time.).

22-24 Lightnings got an APIM/SYNC update end of last year that enabled Tesla superchargers in the connected navigation.

https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/sync-update-25-2-4-9-apim.32546/

So it’s probably coming to older Mach-Es at some point. Maybe.
Not sure if you noticed but the lightning and the Mustang Mach-E are different vehicles. Trucks are bread and butter to ford. The Mach-E at this point has become an afterthought they’re eager for people to forget. 😢

They sprinted off the line and then tripped and face planted. 🥴
I prefer to think of it as “they sprinted at the race start, got out of breath, and went to the side of the road, gave up, and said a 5K is too tough a race.” (All fairness, I do understand that a 5K would be a challenge for some folks and I’m not trying to denigrate anyone.)

I haven’t road tripped my MME since last summer but it sounds like Superchargers are still off the menu.

@Charge_Rob, is this because Tesla uses a different API than the rest of the CPO industry and that’s not integrated into what the 2021-24 MME’s route planner pull from?

I mean they literally cancled the lightning, at least they still sell the Mach E.

Most the time period people “road trip” preconditioning isn’t really needed.

Especially not as important as people around here make it out to be.

True, but it would be immensely beneficial to have them available in the native nav for searching and routing to them.

Tesla sure, preconditioning not nearly as big of a deal.

Granted I think the native nav also sucks but that’s a different argument. Never going to pay for it just for the ability to precondition. And obviously you can route to Tesla with pretty much any other GPS app you would want already.

Just to chime in; Precondition on road trip for me halves the total charging time. In cold countries it is the difference on a 25 min stop and a 45+ min stop. Going in highway speeds the battery quickly cools down thus it needs to precondition each charge.

Simplicity is what I seek. I have an electric car with a built in navigation system on a giant screen sitting right in front of me (well, to the right of me) whose major purpose in life is to find my next charge location. I want the whole database available to it, not half of it.

Apparently, according to @Charge_Rob , the Tesla chargers ARE in the database and apparently they are accessible to the older Lightnings, just not the older MME’s, for some reason …

@Ford Motor Company is there any good reason why 21-24 MME’s can’t select Tesla chargers available with an adapter from our onboard nav when apparently they are in there and can be seen in another model of your vehicles?

Want a fun fact? European users could until 2025 select Tesla chargers (most of them are open for all in Europe) in the NAV by writting “superchargers”. This worked for all model years. Then US got access and this update post and guess what - they removed them from our navigation 😅 Then there was this update some weeks ago that suddenly let us navigate to them again, but then shortly after we had a two day fallout where everyone got “no chargers within range” before we were back to same old with no Tesla chargers in NAV. So for European users, the NAV has been a progressive worse product over the course of our ownership of this car sadly.

I have a 21, got the OTA to fix the door lock recall, then one week later got the message in Ford app that I need to schedule the recall at the dealer. Of course the recall is also still showing as need int he Ford app as well. Maybe there computer systems are running on Commadore 64s.

Ford is dropping the ball on EVs, regardless of their protestations otherwise and regardless of many of their dedicated employees efforts.
Ford is dropping the ball on EVs,

At this point which is larger, BEVs GM has brought to market or BEVs Ford has killed (either before or after coming to market)?
