In a nutshell

-Initially had a ford Edge and another hatchback(beater car)
-Ordered MachE on Oct/2021 (AWD, Premium, Extended Rage, Grabber blue) - for $56,900 - before price increase.
-In Jan/2022, I got tempted by the offer I got for the Ford Edge and sold it (thinking we can live with the beater car until MachE arrives)
-come March/2022, crickets on updated on MachE order - realized we can not live with the beater car anymore. Bought a infiniti qx50 for 50k(buying at sticker price was considered deal)
-Sep/22 - got email from ford my car is shipped
-Dealer is offering trade-in 40k for my Infiniti(bought for 50k)
-Price for same MachE now, with similar build is 67,500 - (I have the order in for 56,900), and I am eligible for full tax credit.

It sounds like "not a bad idea" to trade in the infiniti and get MachE, right

it's just, 10k depreciation for a 8 month old car is a tough pill to swallow.

Does MN reduce the taxable amount of the new car by the value of the old one? Could save a few bucks if you trade it into the dealer you're getting the Mach from. Won't be $10k, but it'd be something. Could try getting other offers to see if the dealer you're getting the Mach from will come up any.

What sites did you try? We've had a lot of people have success with great trades on the forum. I was able to leverage multiple offers to get the dealer to bring the offer up high enough give me more than what I paid for my 21 Select, and that was with over 20k miles.

The market for Infiniti's could obviously be different. Consider your savings from the tax credit, the MY23 price increase, and any sales tax advantage you may get from your trade-in. If that helps close the gap enough for you pull the trigger!

The used car market has been dropping for a few months. As stealerships get more vehicles
on the lot, they will be offering less for vehicles. Once the backlog gets more caught up they will
be dumping cars so that they aren't stuck with them. I was watching the offers for Mach E Premium
it was mid 60K in June, down to Low 50s now ( Vegas ). I finally got the email from Ford to order my
Lightning. Wave 7 so missed all of the step aside and price protection deals. Order today or get
your deposit back. Oh, by the way. the $39K Pro that you reserved is not available. Your next
option is $57K for an XLT. So, ordered the XLT. Shopped around ( a day, not long ) and sold it to the
Ford dealer I am getting Lightning from for just over $50K. I picked up a Spark EV to drive until
Lightning arrives. Missed all of the technology of the Mach E. Two days later I get another email
from Ford. Mach E order banks are open again. Paid $46K for my Mach E Premium a year and a
half and 15K miles ago. The 2023 ( probably not as good as 2021 ) was $56K, so will probably
come out okay.We have been in a great market recently, take it for what it is

I mean, what was the old figure, a new car loses about 10 percent of it's value the moment you drive it off the lot. Approximately 15-20 in the first year. Times are a little different now, but get the best offer you can.

Paying $56,900 + the tax credit is a good deal (I paid $58,830 for the same 2022 trim). My dealer is now asking $69,140 for the same car. Tough call on what to do on the Infinity. I think what others have suggested about making sure you are getting the best offer makes sense.
