This morning I went to unplug my car and there was a stream of ants going up the charging cable. I unplugged and drove to work and check a few times. It seems they are coming out of some crevices in the frunk and may have started a nest!?
*panic* can you tent a car?! I will spray some ant killer into the places of the frunk where they come out of and hope they realize there is no food or anything in this car.

Anybody got any advice?

Do you keep the car in a cool garage at night? If so, they may leave if you keep the car in the hot sun during the day, especially if there is a nice shady bush nearby.

I second that advice. I have learned that if you don't touch the line of ants and put this stuff out, they will take it back and kill them all vs just the ones you can see.
Yes, this definitely causes more ants to come out, just means it's working. Imagine being the ant that poisons the queen, uh oh!

Thanks, I will try baking the car in the sun, a car wash and then parking at a different spot first. They only had from yesterday 10pm to this morning 8am - who knows how quick they are establishing themselves. But having spent my first 90 work minutes educating myself about ants, they appear very territorial. It is gonna be a productive day lol.

If nothing else helps, I will try the ant traps. I have used those before too, SoCal is built on an ants nest after all. They are good, but from my experience you have to place them close to an "ant highway" und they seem to have their entry/exit points where the hinges of the frunk are.

I just wonder now what attracted them to go up the charging cable in the first place. They are not in the cabin and there has never been any open food in car ever. I have never used the frunk either.

Yeah. I had ants all over the charging cable too. I park under a car tent. Get yourself some combat gel, squeeze it along the cable. Does the trick, they won't come back after a few days.

Yesterday was my first full day since taking delivery and I noticed 1 lone ant inside the car yesterday morning after driving to work, then last night after being parked in my driveway for several hours I found my car COVERED in ants. No specific origin that I could see, just trails of ants everywhere.

Googling "ants electric cars" brings up tons of topics from Teslas to Leafs and Bolts. Apparently, they love charging cables. I am glad now there were not as many ants on my cable and car as in the video below.
I will definitely get combat gel and put it on the cable .... or have the cable go through a bucket of that stuff just to be sure.

I can vouch for Terro ant killer. The stuff makes short work of the ants trying to make a home in my garage each year.

Typically you'll still see some stragglers after 24 hours but their numbers will be dwindled. In another day or two they should all be gone.

One word.
AMDRO

ants like bees, have a queen. If you kill the queen, your problem goes away the worker ants take the AMDRO back to the queen and feed it to the silly bitch. End of ant problem Google it.
Jes sayin. In Arizona ants come out in the heat and AMDRO makes them go away.

They like the warm spots in the charger and there’s also a specific type of red ant that likes electricity. Texas has this problem sometimes with electronics that are kept outside.
