Any way to turn off apps like maps?

Curious if there's a way to close Ford's maps application? I primarily use Apple Car Play for my directions and maps but I've used Ford's maps app for things like finding a charger in the past. My issue is, now when I start a drive, the Ford Maps app chimes with a traffic alert or something and I'm curious if there's a way to close an app once you're done using it so the audio notifications stop.

Turn off all alerts in the map settings. Open another application. The navigation app will move to the app tray at the bottom of the screen, swipe down to close.
