Special thanks to @DevSecOps and @WyldStallyn for your help!

TLDR: My APIM needs to be replaced because it draws too much power at rest. Anyone have any stories, gotchas?

Pretty much since I’ve owned my 2021 CR1, I’ve gotten “ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DRAIN SERVICE REQUIRED” error messages in FordPass and corresponding IP messages in the car. It has never impacted the car’s drivability, so I’ve never been urgently pursuing a fix. After 6 months of ownership, I decided it was time to get to the bottom of the problem. Last week, I took the car to my dealer, where the EV tech pulled things apart and tested stuff to figure out that the APIM is drawing an excess 200 mW with the car off. They have ordered a new APIM, which (surprise, surprise) is backordered. Has anyone else had a similar issue? How successfully was it resolved for you? Anything I should be aware of?

Maybe your helpers could speak to what was checked, but this seems like a software issue to me? The APIM should be updated and/or recovered, and only replaced if that didn’t work.

I’ll call and ask the dealer…

They said that they backed up and cleared the APIM and then restored "as built" and that they're confident that it's a hardware fault... @Mach-Lee - do you think there's an overwhelming risk just having the APIM replaced?

I'm not there so I can't say for sure. I'm just advising they try to do everything they can with software to avoid replacement since APIMs are hard to get, and many are replaced needlessly. There is a module update repair they could try too in FDRS:

I haven’t gotten a single error since I changed my password 2 weeks ago. The dealer still hasn’t received the replacement APIM. I called them today and said that the problem seems to be resolved.
