I would like Apple Car Play to consistently show my car's orientation in the direction I am traveling. I know you can push the arrow in the upper right, but this does not work consistently. I know some may prefer the map to always show north, but I prefer seeing the direction I am traveling in. When I enter a destination in Apple Maps on Car Play, it does show the orientation in the direction of travel. I would like this to be the case when I am driving without being routed somewhere. Has anyone figured out how to do this?

Thanks

This has come and gone for me throughout my ownership. I"m still not sure if it is an Apple problem or a Ford problem. Wireless charging definitely is part of the culprit; moving the phone off the charging mat fixed it for me most every time. I plug in now, got sick of feeling my phone trying to burn a hole through my thigh after a long GPS use.

It’s an Apple issue. Apple changed their gps hardware around iPhone 12 time. When it’s in the charger it can often use its own degraded gps signal. Moving it either gives it a better signal or removes its signal altogether, forcing it to use the car’s gps — which is what it’s supposed to bring doing anyway when in CarPlay. It gets periodically fixed and rebroken by Apple.
