Hi all,

The Ford manual states:

Switching Auto High Beam Control ON and OFF.

Access Vehicle Drawer, Settings, Vehicle, Lighting, Switch Auto Highbeam on or off.

I don't have "Auto Highbeam" as a setting.

I have the adaptive headlights on my SR AWD, so I do have an option for "Glarefree"

I had this switched off, as I want to be in full control of my high beams, but last night, whilst driving, I noticed that the A symbol was still illuminated by the speedo and sure enough the blue fullbeam symbol kept coming on and off last night even though I had a car in front of me.

Even though the blue symbol kept appearing, it didn't look like I was blinding anyone (did a full beam test out where no one else was)

It is bugging me that this blue full beam symbol keeps showing up when I'm driving, and I just want it OFF.

I know you can turn it off by pushing the stalk forward twice, but if you push it a 3rd time, it comes back on. After a car restart, it's back to ON.

Has anyone else encountered this, or know of a permanent way to turn this off.

Thanks

Are your dipped/other lights in auto mode on the dial?

Pretty sure High beam will default to Auto mode if the lights are in auto.

Yes, lights are on auto, but again they default to auto every restart.

In glare free mode it will always be showing the blue high beam symbol along with the white A/auto-high beam signal. It will only turn off the blue symbol when all the vertical matrix beams are turned off. One single vertical beam on = high beam on.

You should of course not try to turn this off, as this is a huge safety feature when driving at night. If the lights are adjusted properly (yes, auto adjusting lights have mechanical baseline adjustments), they will not blind other drivers, but you will have better visibility by having the areas around other cars illuminated. The auto mode controls on this car is also close to perfect (in comparison with other cars which will fail all the time). Just keep it on, but keep in mind it does not work for pedestrians, cyclists without lights, cars having no tail lights (but works a lot better than previous ones), etc. You should be able to see it not illuminating the area in front where other cars are present, other than what low beam does (as it will not change the low beam).

In manual mode which can be turned on by switching the light switch to low beam it will be just on/off, no matrix beams involved. It can also be switched off by the "glare free" option, which would keep the two modes of the low beam. Having light switch in low beam forces the low beam into the "normal mode"/non slow mode. It will give the most light at all times then, but it will blind more drivers in city driving if it does not switch to slow speed mode (turning off the long range low beam mode). But again, just keep it in auto unless driving in very specific conditions where auto mode does not work!

Hey,
My full beam lights don’t go off when im behind a car or when a car comes at me. I tested it the other night and i was blinding so many people. I have to manually turn the dial to then it off and i shouldn't have to do that in a £47k car.
Anyone else found their high beams dont turn off? The automatic feature is awful and i wish i could have it turned off for good. But turns on everytime i turn the lights on.

Strange, the auto high beam feature works very well in the U.S. Premium MME. It is one of my favorite things about the car.

The dash knob Auto setting is just for having the HLs on/off at night/day. Auto High beam is controlled via the touchscreen.

where on the touchscreen is auto high beam setting? I cant find it and i have to manually turn the dash knob to turn the auto high beam off. I was blinding so many people the other night it was embarrassing.

May be a bug linked to left traffic in the UK. Didn't notice any issues both on AWD nor RWD. Latter has generic Auto High-Beam, first has Matrix LED.

I can only imagine that it is a fault with your cars. Mine seem to work as they should. They only come on when travelling along unlit roads and turn off (dip) when street lights appear or when cars approach. I love them.

Yeah, i think it is my car. Doesnt turn off when behind a car, with street lights or when a car comes at me. Emailed my dealer and hopefully get it sorted.

I'm with you there! One of the best features - the lights are outstanding and work brilliantly!

Agreed, I didn't even know the car had this feature until I was driving at night and suddenly realised it was moving the full beams to avoid the cars around me. Amazing tech & so easy to drive at night with the enhanced visibility. No issues at all for my usage so assume the earlier poster has a ln issue with the forward facing camera perhaps.

There are times when it stays in low-beam, even with no other cars around, but think maybe that's something to do with ambient/street lights making high-beam redundant.

Ok, so does the blue full beam icon show up on the screen? but the lights are actually going around the car infront and lighting up the side of the road etc?

Here’s a “maybe.”

The stalk switch, I believe, switches the mode from off to on to auto. So, maybe, they were in the “on” mode and not in “auto” mode? Maybe.
