So this has happened 3 times in the last week. I never noticed it before so not sure if it came with an update. When parked where there is an obstacle in front of me (i.e. wall, another vehicle, etc.) when I put my foot on the brake, it automatically switched to reverse.

Anyone else see this happen? Weird feature if it's a real feature.

Edit: I took some time after work to go out and test it in a few scenarios and could not get it to do it again. I know it did do it 3 times this week, but clearly not a feature. I'll keep an eye on it.

Which update are you on and how close are we talking about here?

My latest update was the BC 1.3 update a few days ago. Might have come in on that one, 6.14 before that and a lot of people have that one. As for close, just normal parking distance close, so maybe a foot or so, haven't measured.

I’ll go drive the car up to a wall and see. ;)

Mine is on 6.14 and haven’t noticed that behavior before but my car is also several feet from the garage wall when parking.

I got 6.14 over a month ago and hadn't noticed it. Might have been in the BC 1.3 update since it matches the timeline of when I started noticing it. I only noticed because my SOP is turn on vehicle, foot on brake, switch over 1, which now is putting me on N, so today I just put my foot on the brake and watched it switch to R

I would guess you’re correct. I find it a bit hard to accept that everyone would have missed such a thing for the past 3 1/2 years.

My biggest question is; is it a new feature, or is it an issue I need to get checked out ?

I did have a case a few weeks back where I found myself in R, and I swear I didn't touch the gear dial. Haven't noticed it again, and maybe it was just a fluke.

I can't imagine they would intentionally create a feature that puts the car into gear automatically. Seems suuuuper dangerous and a lot could go wrong.

Agreed. I am going to do some testing when I get time to see if it's consistent, and in which scenarios it happens.

I haven't had that experience but it is an interesting feature if it exists.

My thought is it would be very dangerous to make that change and not tell us. I don’t see that as a feature in the 2024 manual and those have BC1.3.

I also posted this as an edit in the original message, and changed the thread title.

If this is a feature it's one of the wildest things I've ever seen come out of Ford. This HAS to be a bug right?

I have not had an update since last August; however, I have noticed the phenomenon you mentioned several times but assumed it was may age creeping up on me. I park in a g tight garage so front end up close to an obstacle. I have mu habit to just start and spin one click and sometimes find myself in N. Just always thought I forgot as I always double check the height of the garage door before backing out! Now I am going to have to keep an eye on it to see which is really the case.
