I just found out the free TESLA charger adapter from Ford will not be shipped to me until August 2024. Need it this summer. Does anyone know is there are any available to purchase? Maybe from a 3rd party?
Similar problem here. I ordered one from Lectron. Hoping it gets here before June.

We've tested the A2Z adapter multiple times and with multiple Ford EVs and it is works as expected. The Lectron adapter should ship any day now and we will test that one too and do a comparison between the official adapter, Lectron, and A2Z.
So, in the end, it appears you preferred the A2Z slide-type locking switch to the Ford\Tesla locking switch, yes?

So, in the end, it appears you preferred the A2Z slide-type locking switch to the Ford\Tesla locking switch, yes?
There were pros/cons to each. With the Ford/Tesla provided adapter, it requires pressing the latch and pulling at the same time. The location of the latch makes it slightly awkward. With the A2Z, the sliding latch means you can slide it to open and then pull it apart. But the disadvantage is that it is easy to "unlock" the adapter when you plug in the car so you have to make sure to check that it is in the locked position or charging can't start.

Yep, I definitely will. They contacted me over the weekend to verify my address and said they would let me know when they have shipment info. I'm curious to see the differences.

But if you can’t fit into the Tesla supercharger slot, how is this going to help? I’ve really had good luck with EA. I see this is another option but since I don’t get my adapter until mid May, it will miss our road trip to Michigan in two weeks.

Thanks for doing the videos of both adapters. You and Liv are the only ones I’ve seen on YouTube that have posted video comparing the two.

all of the Tesla superchargers in fact, all of the Tesla charging stations are set up to charge a Tesla, which has a charging port on the rear drivers side so when they want to charge they back in and everything works fine not so much when we have to pull in because typically, we have to pull in at a slight angle in order to get the charger to fit our MME or lightning. (i’ll bet the lightning is going to be a real bear!)

Tesla has promised to roll out longer cables with new supercharger installation, but until then they have this guide (and apparently some sort of an extension cord mashup that will be available later this year – – I don’t see how it can work with the DCFC but then again I’m not a Tesla engineer??

Have you watched any of the videos where people have charged Mach-Es and the F-150 at various Superchargers? I think you'd see that it can work. Is it awkward? Sure. But does it work, yes.

I was just being a cantankerous old man… i’ve seen how you can fit, and yes, it works. in fact, I am a member of the Huntsville Tesla owners group and have chatted with people about using the superchargers (not so much for me, but for other EV users coming through town.)

BTW, the Tesla owners group in Huntsville Alabama is a great group! Friendly and accommodating, and for anyone passing through Huntsville to wanting to use the Tesla charging station, they have 12 Superchargers and 3 of them would be very easy to access with an MME or lightning.

I am just wondering what Tesla is planning to sell us with the so-called extension cord that will be available “later this year“ I just don’t understand how it can be a supercharger cable and be reasonably priced, what with the cooling requirements and insulation.

this is something Tesla needs to fix in their charging stations in order to build their infrastructure out, not charge users for something that should be as easily available as an EA supercharger

Oh, BTW, for anyone wanting to use the MidCity, Huntsville, Alabama Tesla superchargers there are tons of places to eat within easy walking distance and a Trader Joe’s nearby even! We would recommend you check out the camp at mid city for their unique food and drink offerings!

My A2Z adapter is on its way. They are turning orders around in the 10-15 day range. They said that later this month they’ll turn orders around in 3-5 days. I’m just glad that mine will be here in time for my trip in April.

Now that we have an official video of Rivian testing on the supercharger network, I’m glad I put in my A2Z order when I did. I’ll have it before my Ford adapter arrives.
