It may be my ignorance, but what I have observed is that without location services, PAAK does not work until the app is running (iOS). So even if I am standing next to the car, until I launch FordPass app, it won't unlock the door.

Is your experience different?
Correct, FordPass must be running in the background on iOS if location services are disabled or it won't work. If location services are given "always" permission, then it will work even with the app closed.

...which I suspect is due to a faulty FitcamX.
If you installed it the normal way, the FitcamX should be getting its power from the rain sensor, which I don't believe has power when the car is off. So it's unlikely to be that I would think...

I agree that the FitcamX should not be getting power when the car is off. However, their support indicated that the problem could be due to a faulty Y-cable, and they are sending a replacement.

Have you tested disconnecting the fitcamx cable and see if it still drains?

I have fitcamx and don't notice that much drain on the 12v. It powers off as soon as the car "ignition" is turned off.

I'm seeing a 5% drop (instead of > 40%) in the 12V battery charge after I disconnected the FitcamX cable. I basically wanted to understand the acceptable range of drop, and from other responses, it seems like a 5-10% drop is normal due to the time it takes for the car to go to sleep.

Yeah roughly 5% in a 24 hour period if no key fob/paak in range. 20% if keyfob or paak is within range. This is what I'm seeing, even with a fitcamx with front and rear cameras installed.

One of the recent OTA's from the past month or two has changed the way the system maintains the 12V. Now when my 12V falls below 50%, the car will use HV battery to charge the 12V back up to 90% automatically. I work from home and the car is parked where it's within range of my phone when I'm in my home office, so it will drain it pretty fast. I see the system kick in and charge the 12v to 90% about every 2-3 days. (Car is often parked for 1 week at a time, sometimes 2-3 weeks).

Thanks, that's definitely good to know. I've not received any OTA update for over 2 months, likely coz of the SOC of my 12v battery, which was almost always below 80%. Now that the root cause has been identified, I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope to see more updates.
