Charged my mach-e select AWD 2023 to 90% before driving 130km, stopped for roughly 10 minutes to pick stuff up. Battery was a little below 60% with an estimated remaining range of 190km. When I started the car and started driving, the battery dropped to 50% with 77km of range. Fortunately, I only only had 8 km to go to get back home. When I arrived at home, I was at 44%. Isn't this an insanely low battery range? The range suddenly dropping by more than 100km gave me quite the scare. Anybody experiencing something similar? Should I have it checked at the dealership?

It was a sunny day, about 15 ° C so I would not think the weather affected the battery much.

Question, when was the last time you charged it to 100%. With the LFP pack you need to do that with some frequency to maintain the battery calibration.

First try what Lee says .Hes our resident guru....BUT ....I had a similar yet opposite thing happen . Started car and it showed 75 miles of range . I knew this wasn't accurate but I couldn't spend a lot of time thinking about it so I pulled car outta garage . As garage door was closing it went up to 115 miles . As the door finally hit the ground the mileage/range finally reached its correct number. Happened once . Hasn't repeated ....and it's also a 23 but a GT. STRANGE

How often should I charge it to 100%? I rarely do it.

But, I had it charged to 100% that same morning because I knew I had a longer than usual trip that day. It showed 418km which did not look right to me. It quickly fell down to a reasonable (as advertised) range while driving. I drove 135km to another city (reached there with 62% battery). Since I was spending the day there I charged it to 91% on a level 2 charger. It was plugged for 4 hours. After that I drove back home, which is the trip I described in my original post.

I should have had no problem driving back without charging. But with that sudden drop, I realize I probably would not have made it back home if I had not charged it back to 90% during the day. Which does not make sense since my trip was only 270 km total.

Is your battery LFP? If so, Ford says you CAN charge to 100% every day and you SHOULD charge to 100% at least once a month.
